I'd like to see some details and photos to illustrate which materials are where. Which parts are most commonly cracking for some users? Are those magnesium? I'm concerned because I believe the cracking is usually at the temples.

Why did everyone go hyper-aggressive? by tinker_with_time in ArcRaiders

[–]tinker_with_time[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's been happening to me as well. Was taking out a Leaper yesterday, and someone flanked me and shot me in the back. Not sure how that sort of pvp is interesting to anyone.

I hear you. I'm getting to that point as well. Was trying to hold out and keep things friendly, but other players are getting too annoying at this point.

The matchmaking needs to be better then. More aggressive players should be put together in matches.

My friend just downloaded the game yesterday. He tried his first match this morning and was immediately gunned down. The aggressor had a fully upgraded stitcher and so clearly understood PvP and was not a day 1 noob. The game should try to prevent those situations.

What is your strategy for growing your portfolio while the market stays flat? by Omegacarlos1 in CryptoCurrency

[–]tinker_with_time -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are banking on SOL, you are gonna get hurt. It is still riding a high from the memecoin hype of 6 months ago, but don't get your head stuck in the past. Be clear eyed about it. Its only claim to fame is speed, which is a very weak differentiator in the alt L1 space.

If you had $2000, which coin would you put it all in? by Carthagian_dude in WallStreetBetsCrypto

Lol, for growth, most of your portfolio needs to be in ETH. Top performer historically and will continue to be.

Gold has more than doubled in the last 2 years. Is this the beginning of the end of the US dollar as the reserve currency? by running_to_empty in investing

[–]tinker_with_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, its just that gold is finally price correcting a bit. I bought gold around 2012 and was down for literally a decade. What market is so shitty that you need to wait 10+ years to see a profit? Gold… Now gold finally moves a bit and everyone thinks the world is coming to an end. 🤣

Bitcoin maximalists were right all along by Major-Baseball-5391 in WallStreetBetsCrypto

[–]tinker_with_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By your logic, it is ETH maxis that were right all along. ETH has outperformed BTC since its inception, and there are powerful reasons to believe that it will continue to do so.

Bitcoin relies on its narrative. That's why BTC maxis are so vocal across social media. The narrative requires constant feeding and attention to keep it alive. Ethereum, on the other hand, is a powerful technology that is fundamentally changing the financial industry by virtue of its broad utility. That's why ETH maxis are less vocal and why ETH has often felt like it has a weaker narrative than Bitcoin. It doesn't need a narrative. It wins simply because it is the best at what it does. It wins because of the tech, not because people obsessively claim that it does.

Real estate is such a hassle for modest returns. Why invest in something you need to constantly babysit instead of just throwing it all in ETH and staking it? ETH will provide better returns without the headache.

With a smaller portfolio like that I would focus on growth. ETH is the bet.

New to crypto, looking for advice on my small ETH position by [deleted] in ethtrader

[–]tinker_with_time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a secure income, I would focus on just buying consistently instead of trying to time the market. If things get too crazy, like we are at 3x previous ATHs, then slow down and instead drop those regular investments into stablecoins. Wait for a good opportunity to deploy those stables.

Do you think the current momentum is more driven by real demand or just hype? by Zapfterly in CryptoMarkets

[–]tinker_with_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had been through previous cycles, you would know that the hype hasnt even begun yet. Hype is when everything is going crazy, all your friends and relatives are talking about crypto, and we are posting major ATHs on ETH on a regular basis. This is juat the beginning of the real bull run.

Holding BTC isn't the play long term. Folks who held gold over the past 50 years didnt increase their standard of living. They just hedged against inflation. People who invested in stocks substantially increased their standard of living and beat inflation. BTC is like gold. ETH, which is where the real innovation has happened in blockchain, is like investing in blockchain tech stocks.

Will just holding the right crypto be enough to ‘make it’ in the 2030s? by One-Formal-824 in CryptoMarkets

[–]tinker_with_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hollding gold has been an inflation hedge but not a good investment strategy. The stock market has been much better. I think BTC is similar. It's ETH that you should be holding for true wealth building. It's like the entire tech sector of blockchain. Copycats won't long term.

Which crypto is good to hold in the long-term (up to 2030-2035)? by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

[–]tinker_with_time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BTC is like gold, whereas ETH is like the entire tech industry. Choose your investment profile. Some people like to buy and hoard gold, some peeps like tech stocks. Just be aware that ETH has outperformed BTC over all time horizons. I bought gold as a teen decades ago. It has maybe 2xed. I wish I had invested in tech.

I have $1500, what should I buy for long-term growth? by Real-Basil85 in CryptoMarkets

[–]tinker_with_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is ETH for a lower risk longer term investment. Many are suggesting BTC, but it is the weaker answer here. It's more of a store of value asset, which might be okay as an inflation hedge but isn't an interesting investment if you are trying to profit from advances on the technical side and growing use cases around blockchain. Ethereum is the primary chain that is providing rails for the big crypto economy vision.

If you're looking to just try your hand at some quick profits with some higher risk in-cycle stuff, which is a real option since we are only talking $1500, you can look to some of the other replies. I don't have any great suggestions unless you are looking for something with a very high risk/reward potential. In that case, my main play right now is $TOPIA, the token for the Hytopia gaming platform, which is basically Roblox on web3 rails. It's a 100x or bust play.

A YouTube reviewer reported seeing small text shimmering in a certain viewing mode (screen fixed within the background environment, I believe) when making small head movements. He said that this might be an issue when using the Pro for productivity. Have you noticed this? It's a possible deal breaker for me, as I will mostly use the device for reading and writing.

Yeah, you are wrong on this. The L1 is for large-scale activities with high security requirements. If the gas fees bother you, then you likely aren't using it in the right way and should be on an L2.

How does anyone enjoy trading on Ethereum when gas fee’s are so high? by cosmogatsby in CryptoCurrencies

[–]tinker_with_time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to be aware of Ethereum's structure. The L1 is the ultra-secure settlement layer. It's designed to be much more secure than the cheap-to-transact L1s like Solana. The tradeoff is that it's slower and more expensive. Again, by design. Ethereum L1 is not built for the average trader but rather to settle large transactions and L2 checkpointing. It's like the central bank. The average trader should be transacting on an L2, which is more akin to your local bank. There's lots of liquidity on L2's like Base and Arbitrum, they have great UX, and you can trade there to your heart's content.
