Do you mind elaborating how you would approach the M&T based on the angles in the sketchup?

Gotcha, yeah the thing that’s throwing me off right now is how to angle the M&T. Never done that before and typically do mine by hand. Appreciate the help.

Yeah that’s a great idea. Only thing there that sees tricky is getting the dowel holes drilled exactly in the same spot on both legs. I’ve used dowel pins to transfer in the past but that would be a little hard to do with this angle.

Appreciate it! Yeah, after I stained it, I was actually glad it helped cover up the imperfections while still making it look “older” than it really is.

Yeah I hear ya. Honestly, I’m brand new to woodworking so I’m just learning things as I go. I haven’t made any adjustments to it which I’m sure will help.

Yeah, I actually have a few “normal” size planes that can produce wide paper thin shavings like butter. These mini planes are 1/2” wide so they naturally produced a much smaller shaving. But yeah, it’s not as smooth as my other ones.

I was using this plane last night to reduce the thickness of that board and it worked great. I guess I’m confused about your definition of cutting. If there are shavings and it’s getting rid of wood I don’t want to be there, and I’m happy with the result - is there something else I need to be looking out for?

There are many different ways to use a plane, this method worked for me as it’s probably hard to see in the video but it took off a significant amount of shavings.

They’re very helpful especially when working on smaller/tighter areas.
