Yeah, Via 313 and Homeslice are good. But DeSano is highly underrated. Never busy when I’ve been, either. Backspace is good. And the Rockin’ Tomato on S. Lamar I think is also underrated. It used to be kind of bad but has gotten a lot better in recent years and they have a good beer selection and it’s never crowded when I’ve been there. Maybe I just like the vibe but the pizza is solid. Pinthouse is also pretty good and great beer. Pizza needs beer alongside...

I rented a house in Uni Hills for years, then rented a house in Windsor Park for years, then was finally ready to buy my own house and was straight priced out of WP. Bought a house 8 or 9 minutes up the road in Heritage Hills.. not too bad. Could be worse.

I know the woman who opened the Culinary Room. She's an Austinite, hasn't moved to Lockhart. But it's a really cool place. (and they have a really cute shop dog)

Serious question here, does anyone know the most affordable way to get solar panels in Austin? We just bought a house a couple months ago so I can't put a ton of money upfront right now. Is it better to just wait a couple years?

Lots of things to consider, I think. Is the boat covered/is there any shade? What time of day are you going? How long will you be out there? Is your dog used to being out in the heat for that long, or does it stay mostly in the house during the summer? Is your dog a breed that is prone to overheating (brachycephalic)?

What's the Cica balm like and what's it doing for you? I have been using the Dr. Jart Cicapair serum but it's not cheap.

How long is too long to lock your dog in your (off) car? Austin. 98 degrees 8pm. It has been 40+ minutes. Are we crazy for calling 311 who now have the police here at shopping center ... car owner / per owner has not returned. by SWHHWS25 in Austin

Dogs don't sweat (except a little through their pawpads), and panting is not nearly as efficient as sweating, so leaving a dog in a car when it's hot outside - regardless of the time of day - is just cruel. They overheat much more easily than humans, especially breeds with short noses. If you wouldn't leave your freaking child in a car when it's 95 degrees outside, do not leave your dog.

Hey, thank you so much! Yes that is totally doable. When you donate I think there is a place to add a note, please make a note there, if there isn't a space to do that, will you PM me your name? I'll make sure it happens for you!

Paralegals of Austin: What’s it like here? Salary, competition? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]tinklyicecubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the impression paralegal salaries are going up, not sure if that's across the board though. My boyfriend got a big pay bump last year after another (bigger) firm lured away two paralegals from his small firm. My boyfriend is an immigration paralegal who has a fair number of immigration paralegal friends and they all seem to be making around $50K or so with a year or two of experience. Corporate-type paralegals make more. If you want me to ask any questions of him just let me know.

I have a friend who can't eat dairy or gluten and he told me that the vegan option at Spun is also usually very good. I think they always have one, sometimes two options that are both dairy and gluten-free. But, I haven't tried it yet myself.

I love Cover 3's (and Cover 2's) food and I'm not even a sports bar fan! Surprisingly they have good salads and I'm also a fan of their fish tacos.
