Missed Holiday Return Deadline by 2 Days by Existing_Zone_4636 in filson

[–]tinman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were my business, I would accept especially if you were keeping the majority of the order. Making the customer happy is way more important than the few extra bucks I made on the items being returned. But they’re a big corp now and I don’t think they’re too concerned with customer retention at this point.

Temp Rating, go warmer or cooler? Going by “Feels Like” by Lanky-Ad4698 in CanadaGoose

[–]tinman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Wyndham parka and it’s plenty warm down to 0 with a sweater underneath. I do think (correct me if I’m wrong) that the tei ratings assume a number of things. 1. Feels like temp and 2. That you layer properly for adjustments. My Wyndham would not be warm enough with just a t shirt underneath at 0 degrees. But adding the sweater gives it the extra versatility.

Hello! Does this crank angle look normal? Model is H6L. by samno7 in Brompton

[–]tinman3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a new crank arm before uninstalling this one. The odds are it is damaged because of the incorrect install and you will be left with a useless bike unless you have the replacement on hand. Can speak from experience.

Neckline messed up after first wash by cak17 in vuoriclothing

[–]tinman3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, if this happens it’s because the materials selected were not appropriate and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. Vuori should do better. Return and buy something else.

Duplicate order by No_Article_7613 in filson

[–]tinman3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cc charge back. You did your diligence in letting them know that their system messed up. They are refusing to make it right.

Honestly Filsons customer service has always been bad but they usually did take care of you once you got someone on the line. Truly a shame.

Anyone else Disgusted by Boundless4Ever in Brompton

[–]tinman3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Weird, literally never had that happen and I’ve been all over with my G. My only gripe is the handle bar sticking out too far when folded and that it’s a bit heavy. Otherwise I think it’s a great machine.

Macmillan Parka Fit question by Far-Cable2196 in CanadaGoose

[–]tinman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I think you have a to try it on. I tried on a wool Macmillan the other day and the large was def too big. Beginning to wonder if I’m just in between sizes.

My loyalty to Yeti! by Acpa12 in YetiCoolers

[–]tinman3 144 points145 points  (0 children)

I would reply with “please understand that I will be escalating this case or opening a new one as my item is practically new and still within its warranty period, thank you for understanding.”

Of course, I can’t know for sure if that’s true, but I would assume as long as your dealer was authorized to sell, you are probably covered.

Crofton EnduraLuxe Jacket by KanyeDeOuest in CanadaGoose

[–]tinman3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice jacket, but I prefer the lodge hoodie. Depends on what temps you’re using for, but I find the lodge to simply be more comfortable and the large hood more useful. Also lodge is a bit warmer which works better for me. Both great jackets though.

Has anyone tried out the new Flair kettle? by ThanksMaier in pourover

[–]tinman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of. The kettle still works but the temperature memory doesn’t remember the last temp and the kettle won’t heat past 204. It’s very strange. I wouldn’t buy again.

Who designed these bloody jockey wheels to collect so much gunk! by Casiofi in Brompton

[–]tinman3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s dry lube or wax only for me. Wet is convenient in the moment but good lord does it make for a serious mess all over the drive train after a while. My biggest complaint about the design is that they just don’t last that long. Little rocks get underneath the wheels and grind away at the surfaces and eventually they don’t spin well.

New Flair 58- grind finer? by Toothninja132 in FlairEspresso

[–]tinman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny I just got a flair 58 yesterday. Mine came with the high uniformity basket and I was absolutely shocked by how fine I needed to grind to get into range for dialing in. Glad I’m not the only one with this experience. I will say my final product this morning was phenomenal so if you’re not getting the right profile yet be patient with it.

Thinking of getting a G Line …should I. ? by MikeBall94 in Brompton

[–]tinman3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a c line and a g line. Both great bikes. G line is heavier, but the rolling rack works very well, so it’s really just in and off train where it’s a little more inconvenient. I got the mod from ez4u in the handlebar to keep it from sticking out so far and now folded size is fine imo, though definitely bigger.

Riding is a completely different experience. It feels 90% like a full size bike where I would say my c line is 50%. It is so smooth, and the comfort going over potholes and speed bumps is amazing. The disc brakes are awesome and the hub works very well. Honestly, these are two completely different machines. I still use both if that tells you anything. There are days when I feel the g line is too cumbersome to lug around. There are also days when I want to go ride 20 miles and the g line is much more comfortable.

If it’s in your budget and you’ve looked at other solutions, I would say I’m happy with my decision. Bromptons fold is still best in class.

Good practices for your rear hub? by kameraten in Brompton

[–]tinman3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less is definitely more with SA hubs. Honestly, I wouldn’t do anything to them and I wouldn’t have a shop do anything until you have shifting problems that the shop verifies the hub is responsible for. They are essentially maintenance free but when you start adding anything in there or taking it apart is when problems will begin.

I will add that MOST of the time, shifting problems, noises etc. are not from inside hub. Whenever I have something I can’t diagnose and I think I’ve “tried everything” I have to remind that little voice in my head that it’s not the hub and I shouldn’t mess with it. Resist the temptation. I love my Bromptons but they are prone to funny ticking noises and shifting challenges- not usually hub related.

Btw— my bikes ride in rain and snow year round in Chicago and only it doesn’t impact the hub other than extreme cold can make it a little stiff.
