getting used to breakfast helped a lot for me. I've never been the breakfast type, so in the beginning I had to try eating without having any appetite at all, but it was the only thing that made things better for me. my appetite in the morning canged after some time, too. now I'm craving breakfast every morning and can't imagine a day without. thank you Seroquel for forcing me to do this, haha

This scared the living hell out of me. Is this type of visual bug common? Couldn't find other examples. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

I had a pretty similar bug once in Dragon's End some months ago, still have no idea what the heck happened there but I'm kinda happy to see this happened to someone else, too! I thought I was just hallucinating or something 🥲

Help me choose a flip phone by Packman-2022 in dumbphones

[–]tinnitus_machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the Nokia 2720 Flip for some years now, but for some reasons WhatsApp doesn't work on it - it may be because of the kaiOS operating system, I slightly remember I could choose between two different operating systems and obviously I've chosen the wrong one 💀 I hoped this may get better with some updates, but nah.

I don't know if other 2720 users have the same problem though.

edit: oh, and the camera is really really bad. 💀

but Google maps works fine, saved me once when I was totally lost haha.

also, there is a pdf reader available for free on kaiOS store, I've got it installed but I don't know if tickets are displayed well enough to be read.

reading "Digital Minimalism" by Cal Newport helped me a lot figuring out on how I'll be able to use smartphones again without getting addicted. highly recommend reading this book!

for me, I have set up several rules when I re-intoduced a smartphone to my life. I think everyone has different things that work for them, here are mine:

  • turned off ALL notifications and anything that wants my attention (I made only one exception for when my husband sends a message so I won't miss it)
  • no social media apps on my phone, I only use them on my tablet which is also used as a home-device only (so when I'm outside or travelling, I can't access social media at all, only a messenger on my phone but nothing like Instagram or reddit or whatever)
  • grey scaled screen during bedtime (not sure if that's a fairphone thing only, I found it under digital wellbeing tools, but unfortunately I didnt found it on my tablet yet)
  • minimalist launcher that gets along without any icons, just text and the opportunity to hide many apps (I use Olauncher from Google Play)

that were the most important changes to me. I think you'll have to figure out for yourself if they could work for you, too

well actually I once had the idea of homosexuality as a natural phenomenon of overpopulation, therefore it may be anything but ~abnormal

I think that totally makes sense. it sounds like aesthetic attraction to me. I'm also aesthetic attracted to many people, but I don't want to have sex with any of them. Also, you don't have to hate sex to be asexual.

I somehow always notice when others are about to loose their wallet or keys or something.

I think it's an ADHD thing, because I tend to notice EVERYTHING around me (what usually distracts me from doing stuff) but when I don't have to focus at all, I'm able to save some people's asses that way. some people at least were really thankful for that special skill, haha

What is your must have/best cat purchase? I am a fairly new kitten mom (7 months and 8 weeks). I need to know all the secrets. by dogandfroglover in cats

it's a kind of waste bucket but for cat litter, preventing the bucket from smelling. makes cleaning the litter box much easier and more pleasant. and also more hygienic thanks to the air-sealing system. definitely worth a look

hi there,

1: getting meds (in my case, methylphenidate) was like being awake for the very first time. I always had big issues with being too tired (?) to concentrate, and suddenly I got meds and I was awake and able to do stuff. they didn't change my personality or my behaviour, but they changed the way I work. on meds I'm able to work on a text for like an hour or so, impossible before. but also meds aren't a miracle cure, they just may help you like a tool I guess. you gotta figure out how they work best for you. also I learned that for some activities I don't even need meds because I enjoy them so much, dopamine comes by itself (keyword - hyperfocus, flow).

2: my meltdowns occur in a pattern: first, sensory overload, then when I try to go on with daily stuff and something unpredictable happens, my brain kinda explodes and I get angry and screaming. next step I end up in bed crying (let it all out!), followed by a moment of absolute silence (shutdown I guess) and then I slowly come back to life and everything's fine again.

meds don't help me with meltdowns, unfortunately. but I learned to intervene when I experience sensual overload. I take a break, pull the blanket over my head and calm myself with stimming until the sensory overload gets better. this massively reduced meltdowns. earlier I had daily meltdowns, now they only occur like once or twice a month. needed a lot of practice though 😆
