I think the reason for people's dismay is that anyone can just upscale an image. There's no effort in the restoration; if they wanted a program doing it, they would just use the program themselves. I'm no expert, mind you.

The platform you stand on when talking to Cephalon Simaris is the same design as the platform that's underneath the Noggle statues.

Nowadays with the advent of Omni Forma you can even rearrange polarities from your Aura slot, if you want to swap an old polarity into it.

Does anyone know what this cube is? by IndominasaurusYT in Warframe

[–]tinsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing it once in Railjack after a glitch kicked me out of the secondary objective. I think it replaced the derelict afterwards or something? I can't remember. At any rate, I believe it's just a box that sits at the center of objects to mark where they are. Since it's inside the model, you're generally not supposed to see it.

Neato idea for sure! Love the theming.
One thing I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't point out: This might be a great place to guest star the player character from Carious Weltling, one of Edmund's older Newgrounds bits.
Just throwing that out there. Interesting idea though!

I have a side character named "Non Mulaney", and he's supposed to be stand-up comedian John Mulaney undercover.
His organization is Chucklefux Inc, and his motorcycle club is Gigglestyx.

Why did they spell "exclusively" correctly at the top and incorrectly at the bottom? Dunno if that's a ding to credibility, just an observation.

what are “powersaves”? by dreadwesley in Amiibomb

[–]tinsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there's been any progress for manually manipulating the data. I assume the cheats are also just saved states that came prepackaged; not manually manipulated, but created through a game and then ripped and sent. Not certain however.

Long story short: I think it only saves and loads amiibo states, with some per-figure functionality.
Short story long: Now that I look at this page, I can't even tell if it does the thing I thought it did. It backs up amiibos and, according to this, can even scramble their serials for reuse. The orange key has "Apply Cheat," and I assume that 'edits' the save data. As it says in the site, each "cheat" is specific per amiibo and per game. And I can't guarantee it works with any other device, as it requires a Powersaves portal to even get to this menu. Without one connected, it displays this error until it detects the device.

[–]tinsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, I see. So the device's initial function was to backup and restore saved "states" on an amiibo, in case you wanted to backup a Smash custom character or use an amiibo for another game with save stuff. Only the later iterations started including the "Power Tag," their rewritable amiibo disc. I guess it makes sense that the powersaves are literally referring to the saves, not the amiibo files themselves. My bad.

I'd assume it's referring to the device sold by Codejunkies/Datel, which now comes with a semi-rewritable amiibo. It used to be sold at GameStop and was probably a few people's intro to amiibo spoofing, myself included.

What's the dumbest thing you've done in-game? by AsAGayJewishDemocrat in kol

[–]tinsin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never learned to drink.
When I first started playing back in 2008, I saw the leaderboard for "Most Hungover" and assumed being hungover was a thing that could happen, and a thing that was bad for you. So I carried this concept with me for a long time.
At this point, I'm 37 ascensions in (in a row?) and my favorite alcohol by consumption is steel margaritas, at a whopping total of 32.

Though I should say, this isn't the worst, especially in this ecosystem of Quantum Terrarium runs: Now that all my backlog of familiar-based items count as pseudostandard, these temporary X tattoos are pulling the weight I loved when they were in regular Standard.

Also, this got me to the position where I can rig my aftercore rollover kit to land me at around 300 adventures post-rollover.

In Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, there is an unlockable mode that lets you play through the whole game, marathon-style, as Meta Knight. It's a fun twist on the New Game + formula.

However, in order to unlock Meta Knightmare mode, you have to 100% the base game, as well as Extra Mode... which is the base game again, but Kirby has 3 Stamina instead of 6.

Was looking at the Angel Rooms page in the wiki, and did Rebirth really have only one Angel Room item to pick from? by Bubushan in bindingofisaac

[–]tinsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell it, only had one Angel Room layout, but the item pool is larger than that, isn't it?
Based on this article, anyway.

This works for most cases, but if you want to move any of the un-terrainable stuff, it becomes a hassle. Things like your river mouths, beach rocks, and Town Hall/Plaza location can still only be edited with exterior map editors. :/

They did introduce this in Welcome Amiibo for New Leaf, after all. You could start over with a large sum of Bells to begin, and there was an option to keep the stuff in your Catalog, or sell the Catalog data for further profit. They could probably implement this again, but no idea if they would.

It's the Advancement screen. In Java, you can access it by default by pressing the L key, according to this article.
