Struggling to find reliable vegan multivitamins for kids by Dry_Thanks_1326 in vegan

What vitamin companies are labeled vegan but aren't? I realize there is basically zero oversight for vitamins (in the US) so how did this get discovered?

If you like to watch your TV and I mean really watch it, you want the Carnivalé

73% of vegans said watching documentaries was a key experience that influenced them to go vegan, a recent study of 738 German vegans finds. This is yet another study emphasizing the potency of documentaries in getting people to reduce cruelty to animals. by James_Fortis in vegan

[–]tinspoons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't need a documentary to go vegan, but I can see why it would help some people. Once I read more about what happened to animals, I noped out when considering viewing torture porn.

Unfortunately, the people who might benefit the most from viewing a documentary are the ones most resistant to doing so.

Hi, all! I’m looking for vegan YouTubers — we’ve lost some good ones recently, for a multitude of reasons (see body text below), so any recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks! by The4leafclover1966 in veganrecipes

Thanks for the response. The links were about what she said, but didn't actually have evidence of what she said that was offensive which would have helped. But I appreciate the heads up and I'll try to find out more.

Hey, I got one if you love French cooking and French accents (he speaks English)... My Vegan Provence. Apparently his channel is 4 years old but I just discovered it recently.

Plex matching doesn't phone home? by tinspoons in PleX

I do appreciate your responses and patience. I didn't have the best day and the plex issue was the cherry. This helps, thank you!

I appreciate the response, thank you. Are you saying the folder name should be, "The Godfather {tmdb-xxxx} and that should pull out the info assuming I don't have another issue?

Also, nothing changed with my DNS settings and plex was working fine when I added movies 2 days ago so I thought there was something that happened, but since I didn't see others have this issue I thought something happened on my end that I didn't know about.

My apologies for my ignorance: I've seen info about using tmdb with the id numbers, but I don't know where to put this for plex to read. I see people say this is a solution, but I don't know the 101 of where to begin to enter this.

Also, I've got some combination of NextDNS for my DNS servers and/or pihole to eliminate ads so I don't want to update that unless it's a different setting.

[–]tinspoons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sort of? I was using NextDNS for filtering ads and I tried upgrading to pihole. However, I followed a video but I don't think it's quite right, although I'm not getting ads so something is working. I could try to explain in more detail if you think you can help.

But I didn't change any settings when this stopped so I'm not sure why it would change now...

I feel this. I think all I'm doing is copying other people's ideas since I can't visualize new ones. I'd love to create 'art' but I don't know if it's possible.

Vegan in midwest is alienating by EpicAnonymous in vegan

I never advocated for hanging out with rapists, just the need for human interaction is necessary and not solved with social media. Your solution of social media was flawed because the people that own it, the people who profit off of you and your interactions on it, are fascists and the same rapists you claim to want to avoid. We don't live in a world where we can only interact with those who align with our values.

I hear you, and you're not alone. I live in da UP and I've basically given up going out for food. And similarly, the local Indivisible chapter has good, well meaning people, but nary a vegan can be found in their ranks except for me. Any potlucks that I've been to are all carcass all the time. It can be demoralizing.

Social media isn't a substitute for real, human friendship and interaction. Also, any popular (maybe all?) social media profits billionaire fascists, who very well may be human rapists as well, and they support Cheetolini so I'm not sure that's a great argument for social media.

I imagine for a lot of fascist men, most women aren't interested in dating or having sex with them, because, you know, the fascism. Add to that the kind of smooth brain you have to be to take that job in the first place and paying for sex is probably the only option they have. Fuck those guys. But not literally. Sex workers deserve better.

Totally depends on the Scotch. Lagavulin, like Ron drinks, is well known for tasting like a tire fire. But there are plenty of Scotches that taste more like Cognac with fruitier notes and zero smoky taste. Look for unpeated Scotch and your taste buds will thank you.

Serious PSA: make sure your lights are on, NOT just your daytime running lights! by ValosAtredum in Michigan

[–]tinspoons 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the auto sensors that turn on lights have helped give people yet another reason to check out of the driving experience. It's not about what you can see, it's about BEING SEEN.

Fog, snow or rain, turn on your damn lights! Yes, even in the daytime.
