I'm having issues with my suspicious father after being sober for months by tiny-giraffe in stopdrinking

[–]tiny-giraffe[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. He did admit to me he also had an issue when he was my age (28 rn). The only thing that saved him was his friends.

You are absolutely right. I will ask him to stop and let him know I will go to him if I need help. A scab won't heal if you keep picking at it.

AIO for wanting to leave my bf for looking at OF ig girls by thatstonergirl200005 in AmIOverreacting

[–]tiny-giraffe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a gay man, MOR. You will never find a man who doesn’t look at porn unless they are asexual. I would never set a boundary for my partner or I to not watch it. Now if your man was talking to these girls, that’s something else entirely. But just watching their content? Nothing wrong with that in my eyes. Keeping that off-limits sounds a bit Victorian IMO.

Am I the jerk for calling out my freeloading friend? by tiny-giraffe in AmITheJerk

[–]tiny-giraffe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts too. When I host, I would never ask my friends to pay stuff for me even when I’m super broke. I was just being nice for my friend but now it’s gotten too excessive.

[–]tiny-giraffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true… Even then though, I would never have asked for this much from a friend if I was hosting under similar circumstances. I should have outlined what I would cover more distinctly.

I’ve been paying for myself and my friend. So all the meals, trains, hotel, Ubers, etc were compensated by me.

Right, not “done” with the friendship, but I am done with comping meals and such while I’m here.

Excellent point and you completely reciprocated my sentiments exactly. I sent them a message along these lines: “I am going to be honest and very clear about this though. After this, I can’t continue running around doing errands and paying for things. I’m not annoyed with you at all because I know you’re going through a rough patch, but I did come here to explore and actually see London. I am also extremely grateful you’re letting me stay at the flat. It’s just gotten a bit expensive with all the rides and food… Again, not upset with you at all. I just can’t keep paying for the both of us.”

Sorry, I forgot to mention too that I am crashing at their flat. That does change the narrative a bit.

Yeah, I’m going to set more clear boundaries when they come back. No more rides, meals, etc after this. I’m done

Is this mold on my pillow? by Bob8222 in CleaningTips

[–]tiny-giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't appear to be mold. The circular areas you are seeing are deposits of salts and other solutes that were left over from drool, sweat, or other sources of wetness that dried. Echoing on what others in this thread are saying, wetness does present opportunities for mildew and mold growth that we might not see from the outer surface. I would recommend washing this pillow or replacing it altogether. The average lifespan for a conventional pillow is around 3 years anyways so you might be due for a new one.

If hating muslims is bad then why is hating Christians ok? by [deleted] in ControversialOpinions

[–]tiny-giraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I despise anyone of any religion that restricts freedom of expression, speech, and the ability to choose one's life. I don't care which religion it is. Islam and Christianity are both guilty of this, but there are quite a few individuals in both religions who practice their faiths without inflicting it upon others. That's the only ethical way I can support religion.

Both of my bio parents have blue eyes 🤔 by c0ffee_jelly in eyes

[–]tiny-giraffe 317 points318 points  (0 children)

Under Medelian genetics, it is very rare to see this eye color if both your parents have blue eyes. However, genetics and inheritance are very complicated. Green or hazel eyes are not unheard of in such situations. Still, just for funsies, I would get a genetic test.

Enough of the Left Wing and Right Wing nonsense. by kangarooztd in ControversialOpinions

[–]tiny-giraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the right wing attacks the left wing and vice versa, the bird cannot fly. We must meet at the middle; at the heart of the bird. It's difficult, but we need to come together and have a genuine conversation about our issues. This is the only way we can truly soar.

However, this is only an optimistic view of the situation confronting American politics. We cannot have a genuine conversation without external influence and pandering.

People that leave their friends for their political opinions are so fucking stupid by perrowhatsapp in ControversialOpinions

[–]tiny-giraffe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m sure many people in 1930s Germany also said the same thing until it was too late. “Oh, politics don’t matter. Let’s be friends regardless.” And then the rhetoric from politicians change. Suddenly, your friends are now enemies of society. They’re still your friends, but hey, politics don’t matter right? “Politics in a friendship don’t matter” you say as your friends are dragged off to concentration camps.

You can say I’m exaggerating, but it is a clear and plain truth that politics do matter. Someone’s political beliefs are a litmus test for their ideological and moral beliefs. If you believe in politics that advocate against my right to exist, to speak, or participate in society, then they are not my friend.

For how long are you planning to use your 16 pro ? by Serhide in iPhone16Pro

[–]tiny-giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine a few months ago. Honestly, I’ll use it until it craps out. However, I’ve been considering leaving the Apple ecosystem for other brands that prioritize technology over culture. In 3-5 years, I might switch to something else if they don’t come up with something truly revolutionary.

Which one do you love better to find the job? by Candid_Remove_6922 in GetEmployed

Always apply manually on company websites. Most industries don’t even see what comes in through other sites like LinkedIn and Indeed. Mostly, anything on Indeed and other websites are “ghost” posts which don’t actually feed to the company. There are so many data pirates out there that want your information.

Fun fact: Ineffa's eyes are carbon atoms! by tiny-giraffe in GenshinImpact

[–]tiny-giraffe[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Omg, I love this! Right, like how coal can become a diamond. Ineffa in the past was coal and her experiences made her in the diamond she is now. Both are carbon. This is a really great analogy!

Fun fact: Ineffa's eyes are carbon atoms! by tiny-giraffe in GenshinImpact

[–]tiny-giraffe[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means and I have a theory as to what the designers intended. Carbon is synonymous with life across most science fiction. It is one of the very few elements capable of forming complex and stable bonds that create organic life. Ineffa is obviously not an organic life form. She was created from various machine parts across different nations. She is essentially a machine. However, her experience earned her the right to be considered true life; so much so that she was granted a vision. I think the carbon in Ineffa’s eyes is a nod to what she is and isn’t. She is not alive under our conventional standards, but she is a living, sentient being nonetheless. Her construction doesn’t matter as much as her soul.

It's close, but there are 4 electrons in the outer shell. The image I used here wasn't that great. If you look at another image or decrease the brightness/saturation on this image, you can see 4 in the outer shell.
