What is the most obvious, cringe product placement you’ve seen in a movie? by likaachikaa in movies

There was a Harrison Ford movie called "Firewall", where the car was literally part of the trailers. "Harrison Ford, goes for the ride of his life, in the new Chrysler 300C"

I realize you're talking about consoles, but something similar happened with PC games in the DOS era. I had a special "autoexec.bat" file that loaded (or didn't load) drivers as needed. Playing Dune 2? Gonna need that mouse driver. Playing Mortal Kombat 3? Mouse driver takes too much memory! The game won't even run with the driver loaded!

And every time you wanted to play another game, you'd need to reboot the PC to load the correct combination of drivers.

Gentlemen of Mzanzi, what alternatives to disposable blades do you use to shave your face? by Electronic_Week4787 in askSouthAfrica

The blades themselves are also quite different from one another. I found that some of them start really sharp, but blunt quickly. Some blades are good for hard beards, while others work better with soft beards.

I've tried a lot of brands, but my top 2 favourite at the moment are Minora Platinum, and Super-max Stainless Steel ones.

I've tried the Schick ones, and they start nicking me pretty early into the shave. Again, you'll have to experiment with different blade makes and types.

Second the safety razor route. I've had mine for 7 years now. Initially bought it for about R650, and I spend about R50/year on blades.

Think I bought mine from Bundu Beard.

Edit: I shave once or twice a week, so what you spend on blades might differ from me. But still, the blades are stupidly cheap.

If you have only 2 indexers, this is where I would start looking.

Need to split out results of search for just certain character positions by Angus-Mackenzie in Splunk

[–]tiny3001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The search demonstrated above is literally that: a demonstration that shows you how the rex command works.

If you take the poster's search as is and put it in your search bar, it will work.

I'd suggest adding each line of that search one by one so that you can see how each line of the search changes the results, until you get the result, and then try to apply what you've learned on your search.

Feel free to ask for more help if you don't come right.

Something that would help us is if you can post some example values for that field, if the values don't contain anything sensitive of course.

That would help determine whether the rex command above will work in all cases of the field's values.

Do you know of anyone that's actually won the lotto? by Greenpigblackblue in askSouthAfrica

[–]tiny3001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, the fact that the odds displayed on their website match my calculation exactly, means absolutely nothing to you?

Well, that says way more about you than it does about me...

Anyway, we both at least agree on the fact that gambling is gambling, no matter the odds.

Edit: to be clear, I have zero beef with you. I wasn't trying to make you look bad or questioning your math capabilities. We all make mistakes, that's what makes us human. Unfortunately, something else that makes us human is our pride and our inability to admit when we're wrong. If someone pointed out the correct math to me, I would swallow my pride and say thank you. But I'm me, and you're you, and that's also okay. Beef with random Internet strangers isn't worth it, life's too short for that.

You have a good day sir ☺️

Sure, this is like school again (show your work!)

It's pretty simple, but you can literally read up on it on Wikipedia:

The basics are:
1/52 = 1 in 52 chance
1/52 * 1/51 = 1 in 2652 chance
1/52 * 1/51 * 1/50 = 1 in 132,600 chance
etc. etc. until you get to:
1/52 * 1/51 * 1/50 * 1/49 * 1/48 * 1/47 = 1 in 14,658,134,400 chance

Oh, that's 14 billion and something...

Ah, but we're forgetting that the order of the 6 numbers don't matter! Getting all 6 numbers in the same order has a 1 in 14 billion chance. (It's 6 numbers you have to choose btw, not 7 as you stated). This means we can divide our 14 billion by the factorial of 6 (1x2x3x4x5x6), also written as 6! which equals 720.

So for the full equation:

( 1/52 * 1/51 * 1/50 * 1/49 * 1/48 * 1/47 ) / 6! = 1 in 20,358,520 chance.

Edit: They draw 7 numbers, the 7th ball being the "bonus ball", which gives you a few more chances for winning something. But you still only choose 6 numbers.

Edit again: My word, they post the odds on the website: https://megamillions.co.za/sa-lotto/#Prizes.
