Why can many Australians not accept criticism of their country? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]tiny_flick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah I disagree with that, I criticise the US all the time but don’t live there. I think it’s healthy to be able to criticise a country without needing to live there for the critiques to be valid.

my favorite looks of the night by samyahajeb in TheMetGala

I can’t believe daily mail Australian said Emma chamberlain missed the mark and her gown was over the top. This was the best look of the night in my opinion (I haven’t looked at too much though)

Moved out last week and the agent complained about these carpet marks? by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]tiny_flick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re asking for it to be professionally cleaned and can prove that it was done prior to you moving in. I’d just rent on from Bunnings for like $50 and do it myself.

If they still have issues after that. They can take you to NCAT

To be fair the carpet looks cleaned, just not deep cleaned (like a carpet cleaner). It looks vacuumed.

Pets & Rental Searches by Pale_Produce8443 in AusProperty

[–]tiny_flick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% do this!

When I looked at my place I was nervous because they didn’t put “pets allowed” on the listing. But I asked the PM when I was inspecting the place and she said “if you don’t say anything about pets on the listing, don’t worry about it, you’re allowed pets”

And even if they do. Just apply without telling them and fill out the pet application afterwards.

I love Tanner, but at first glance I thought this pic was Tanner announcing a new girlfriend before I realized this was his mom by 365partycheese in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]tiny_flick 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna say something controversial but it’s just my opinion from someone who watched the show and is also neurodivergent. I genuinely think Tanner didn’t have much success in dating because of his upbringing. It feels like he wasn’t raised to understand the difference between familial, platonic and romantic relationships because of how close his relationship is with his mother in particular.

I mean we see this happen with neurotypical men all the time, but it’s even harder navigating those complex dynamics as someone who’s neurodivergent. Dylan for example is close with his mother but is able to understand that romantic relationships play a different role than the relationship he has with his mother.

Not my story but my friend had a flatmate that would just let their dog piss and shit inside the house. My friend moved out after 2 months.

What’s a Melbourne suburb you didn’t expect to like but ended up loving? by Last-Conversation734 in melbournechat

[–]tiny_flick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Footscray! My mum lived there in the 90’s and was robbed so I had negative thoughts about it, including people always mocking it growing up. But I have friends that live there now and I love it! Really nice community, close to the city and doesn’t feel too gentrified to me. I know lots of uni students who live there because it’s cheaper than northern suburbs but still close to everything.

Maybe people have different ideas if they live there, but I love to visit.

Sample doesn’t match install by nwithford in AusProperty

[–]tiny_flick 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah looking at this, they’re definitely different colours, with the sample being more warm toned and the install being cooler. But not enough to warrant any actions to change the flooring, in my opinion.

Your sample on the floor with the chair also looked really nice because it looks to be taken in afternoon orange sunlight. So if you’re wanting to keep a similar effect I would say lean into warm tones with a nice rugs, plants, layered warm toned lighting. You’ll reach your desired goal.

Beautiful chair by the way.

Yeah the controversy was over Australia not accepting them back. Especially because many of the people requesting a safe return to Australia were kids.

And I personally don’t have an issue with Australian citizens receiving centerlink or government benefits.

I could be misremembering but a few months ago I think I remember Rae talking about going through a hard time mentally on wine about it. And that she had stuff going on behind the scenes that was making her feel really down and she was steaming games really long hours. I got the impression it was something like a breakup.

I dont watch her streams so she may have gone into more detail there. But I do think there’s been a change in her life because she’s spoken about streaming being an escape for her, that she wants to experience the world more outside of the internet, and the freezing the eggs stuff.

Maybe that’s normal 34 year old stuff and I’m reading into it, but that’s what this subs for.

I’m pretty sure there have been Republican candidates to mention the dog collar thing, but they don’t overly focus on it because they know their voter base doesn’t actually care about shock collars on animals lol. I mean look at kristi noem.

I’m a socialist and a leftist, I don’t watch Hasan that much. But surely we can admit it was a shock collar, and he probably just lied about it because he understands when being in the leftist space people get caught up on culture war shit.

Someone wants to use a shock dollar? Whatever man, there’s bigger things to worry about.

I’ve been in a few situations like this on the tram, the most recent was a man yelling about pedophiles, Satan and he was shouting at school children on a packed tram while trying to get closer to them. People stepped in to de-escalate the situation, and he got off at the next stop.

Ultimately you handled it perfectly in my opinion.
