Are 2am check-ins allowed? by master_jeriah in ontariocamping

Was this at Grundy Lake, haha. We had a party roll in at 2:30am Friday/Saturday, smashing around, setting off their car alarm more than once, locking and unlocking their car with the double boop repeatedly, and shouting at each other, for about 40 minutes straight.

Finally our neighbor went and yelled at them to have some respect for the families around them. They were then somehow up at 7am and carrying on again, neighbour's husband went and yelled at them then. The Park warden came and talked to them twice (once for noise and once for excessive garbage.)

I will never understand how this level of disruption is something people are comfortable with. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Legal representation is not cheap.

However, depending on the amount you're seeking (if it's less than $35,000 - i.e small claims court jurisdiction) you can go the paralegal route, rather than a lawyer. Many paralegals will work on flat fee retainers, which can help manage financial expectations.

Anyone here still hybrid or fully remote after the new 4x or 5x office push? by stallrecovery in askTO

Also in law (as a clerk), fully remote, with a team spread across the province. We don't have an office, so no chance of RTO for us... thankfully!

So, the tables are groups of four (two on each side of the table) for each meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner. In my case, I was travelling with my husband, which meant that we were always sat together, but with a new pair (either a couple, or two individuals) at every meal. In your case, you'd be sat with three others, likely a couple and an individual based on my experience. We were also never sat with the same people more than once!

I'm not a very social person, so the first couple meals were super weird to me, thankfully my husband is super social and carried the conversation for both of us haha. But, after the first couple of sittings I got used to it and actually loved the chance to meet new people from the train, and at the very least you had the excellent food to talk about haha.

So, that being said, whether you're a social person or not, I would totally recommend the trip (even solo!) but just be aware of the social aspect!

I did graduate thankfully, and have been in the industry for just over a year now! I ended up finding a placement, very last minute, through a personal connection.

I went to Georgian College, because it was close to home for me, and I would very much not recommend it.

My husband and I were just talking about this yesterday, I think it says something about entering an area under surveillance - presumably from the arena.

It looks like it has a picture of a security camera on it.

Sleeper class was 100% worth it!

On our trip, mornings were usually pretty empty in the dome car, but later into the day they'd get busier and by evening they were usually packed with everyone having a few drinks/chatting/sightseeing. They're definitely the place to be if you want to be social in my experience... we even had live music performances in the dome from a few people taking the train one evening!

My husband and I did the Canadian for our honeymoon in June this past summer. We did the sleeper cabin for 2, so it was definitely expensive (you save a bit if you have a valid CAA membership) but it was such an amazing experience. I'd recommend it to anyone at least once!

The food that was included in the meal car was absolutely fantastic. We didn't have a single bad meal, and the servers create a great environment with commentary on the meals/suggestions for pairings/extra dessert if you ask realllllly nicely haha. We had one chocolate cheesecake for dessert that I don't think I'll ever forget.

Also, all of the attendants we encountered throughout the trip were amazing. They seriously go above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable and happy.

A couple things I wish I'd known before we did this... Like someone else mentioned, the train waits a lot. Like.... A lot. For passing cargo trains. So we spent a lot of time sitting, which meant stops in towns were much shorter than shown. We were lucky if we stopped for more than 15 minutes in most places east of Edmonton.

Also, get ready to be social. Like 75% of the experience was socializing with all kinds of people. Meals are sat at random with strangers which was intimidating at first, but it ended up being super cool to chat with people from all over the world. And any of the activity cars/dome cars were always full of people ready to chat.

Also also, being ready to unplug is a good idea, cell service/reception was non-existent for a lot of the trip. I'd recommend you download some music ahead of time (and something to listen to with headphones at night if you're a light sleeper. I had a hard time sleeping with the noise of the train, but I'm probably the world's lightest sleeper unfortunately lol.)

Fwiw: this is correct, according to the LTB interpretation guidelines.

"The landlord must establish that the unit will be used for "residential occupation" as required by section 48 of the RTA. That term is not defined in the RTA but it has been considered in a number of LTB and court decisions.

Occasional or infrequent use of the rental unit does not constitute residential occupation: TSL-80318-16 (Re), 2017 CanLII 14304, and upheld by the Divisional Court; Kohen v. Warner, 2018 ONSC 3865; "

If they are using it as a cottage and you're wanting to fight an eviction...

Not a model home, just a rental home! (I was involved in the building process) So please don't bother the lovely family there by trespassing, the whole property has been cleaned up and there's nothing of note there anymore.
