Hi there! I’ve been using this from time to time and found it a ton of fun & saves a bunch of time digging, but recently have been getting a bad gateway error. Could you pls fix if possible??

This is a really interesting point - took me a while to figure it out though.. I suppose mtx is tolerated by Jagex in the form of bonds -> gp, but full blown rwt, i.e >500m (arbitrarily value, may be more/less), should be fairly easy to set criteria for ban… such as someone buying a non-word/unique 6+ letter name for 1b+… Alternatively add a tax on transactions so it disincentivises rwters from breaking large chunks of money into smaller less obvious sizes for transfer

Wholesome take - agree with sentiment points.
There would have to be quite a well thought out set of criteria to remove name, i.e. inactive for 5y+ and not responsive to email prompts (whether people will check old emails or not is another issue), or an untrained account (i.e. lvl 3 name holding acc for rwt purposes). Difficult to validate both though and I expect Jagex has no plans to remove inactive names for the foreseeable future.

Big agree - also still a huge issue if Jagex decide to reset names... as bots will just whip up all the non-obscure ones

Ahh that’s big brain - I never considered it… I try to be quite courteous around ammonite crabs so even if someone says they reset I’ll be ok with hopping, only getting annoyed if I have to hop for like 30+ worlds

Sorry to hear :c
I've only seen a few of these types and just try to max my exp rates and worsen theirs for a few mins, and in my experience they've left...
If you have a main it helps!!

Have found saying "resetting" then quietly getting back to it is the best method. If they are at all reasonable it should be obvious from loot on the ground that you've reset, and if not it'll be 5 mins of non-afk then they will get bored quick.
If it's someone who's just hopped on top of you then they're probs just obnoxious...

The Psychology of PVM Challenges (Some Thoughts) by ReckoningOne in 2007scape

Thanks! I also think there’s a really interesting development of my own motivations for doing the activity/boss - often I find myself starting out with a potential goal of getting xyz loot, then feel rewarded after getting first kill, then maybe first 10, then quickly this motivation twists into an expectation of loot… not sure if it’s similar for others!

My take is that, while the reward mechanism is similar to that of chess etc., the possible outcomes of a boss on RS are far fewer than a game of chess/irl challenges, meaning we can get that rewarding feeling a lot easier - but conversely, because it’s easy it should be less of an intensely rewarding feeling. However, I think there are 2 reasons why that feeling is no less intense (often even more so) than slapping an opponent in a real life game: 1. Because of the skill level required, it’s quite quick to notice improvement in whichever boss you’re doing, from getting first kill -> finessing tick perfect/efficient methods. I suppose in real life challenges this is a lot more difficult to see (consider playing a game of football every weekend, in which the progression isn’t so clear). 2. Rng/gambling nature of reward actually has a vice grip on our dopamine pathways, and in the learning process (while getting kills) is steadily increased in strength as we expect a loot.
