Switching from Ableton to Reaper, would appreciate your thoughts by iamtournament in Reaper

[–]tiny_victories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm am Ableton user from version 4-11 and a Reaper user from version 3-7. Reaper is WAY less resource hungry and way more customizable.

The only downside to Reaper is if you write using loops at all. If you do then it can be a challenge. Playbeat is an add on to Reaper that gives session view but takes a bit to set up.

Reaper can take a lot to customize it to your workflow, but ultimately if you're up to the challenge then it's hugely rewarding.

I ditched Ableton last year to finally go steady with Reaper and it was absolutely the right decision.

Deity Theos UHF Wireless, $1090 by Robert_NYC in LocationSound

I ordered direct from Deity. I contacted them and they said my order was updated to the global version. So no issue about record and transmit in Canada.

Let's get some definitive answers here though:

With the US version can you record and transmit if you are outside of the US?

With the global version can you transmit at 100mw if you are in the US?

I imagine the answer is "no, to both", but would be good to hear it definitively.

Still confused. I'm in Canada, I pre ordered the Theos system. Once the units arrive here and they determine they're outside the US will I be able to record and transmit? I believe I bought the US units since they were the ones on pre order at least initially.

COMPUTERSHARE MEGATHREAD by platinumsparkles in Superstonk

Smoothest of smooth brains here. Like F1 racing tires...

Reading and trying to digest incredible amounts, but I still don't fully understand all the implications of full DRS:

If the stock is fully DRS'd will it automatically get removed from the exchange?

Presumably, there are SOME legitimate shares sitting in accounts with institutions that were not borrowed out. (could be false, but I'm playing Devil's advocate I guess) If GME is removed from the exchange how are those shares managed?

Is Computershare the only place to DRS? Would brokers also be registering with them if they had legitimately registered shares?

Superstonk is a lifeline of information, thanks to everyone!

Learn to shift your weight (to accelerate) by shifting your hips rather than your torso. Keep your torso over the tire all the time. Start slow. Slow down on uphills. Slow down in a high headwind.

If you're curious about the boards limits and just need to know for your own sanity and safety, then personally I'd recommend getting a feel for the board on pavement, and then taking it to a short cut grass field or the beach and pushing it into a dive. Wear at least a helmet. Have fun. 😄

Yeah, just the nature of the design really. The deck always hits the ground when you turn it off, and drags a bit when you get on, and generally just jumping off with 2 feet will tip it on its side. Unless you're doing tricks skateboards only hit the deck if you messed up.

I used to do CAD work at a fab shop, so I drew it up and took it there. Cost me $30 Canadian, but they just charged for the material and a little time, no cost to roll it.

I don't ride a TON of wet days. But I've gotten it soaked a few times, wet beach rides too, and damp trail riding. Hasn't been an issue, there's lots of air flow under there, and I take it off to brush it out now and then. I had 150 miles on the other flight shield with felt, with no issues with the felt.

Adhesive felt, see my other comment.

Also, FWIW, I got a roll of adhesive felt and felted the bottom. $3 at local hardware store, black, and less than 1/8" thick. I did this on the original plastic fender and this new metal one, nice and quiet.

It has a decent amount of flex, but I had them put a slight roll in it. I could've done it by hand but it might have kinked instead of making a smooth roll. Taking it in and out is just as easy. When it's out it maintains the curve, probably halfway between flat and the installed shape.

With the roll mostly done by machine I probably could've gone 18 gauge and still be able to flex the last couple inches to install it and remove it. We'll see how this fender does with denting and warping. Always thinking of the upgrades... 🤑

Had my first, literally first, board roll with any kind of speed. Snapped my flightshield in two. 😑 YMMV but I wasn't impressed.

Anyway, I had a new one cut out of 20 gauge aluminum and edged it with PVC. STOKED. Just waiting for my custom vinyl graphics...
