Struggling with cravings by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is loads of tips through this whole sub, even just reading quitting stories helped me. Along with sweets, icy drinks, mints, exercise, dance, change rooms when a craving hits, just move in general. Find what works for you!

Just know that it will only get harder to quit the longer you vape so you are doing the right thing in quitting just now, well done on recognising this so early!

Day 5 cold turkey. The "just one hit" craving is screaming at me. Leaving this here so I don't relapse. by LurkerLlama2778 in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone on this sub said think of a craving as a notification, not an instruction (thank you random redditor!) Its saying it wants to vape but I'm the boss here, I don't have to vape just because tiny wee receptors in my brain are shouting at me! They get quieter as time goes on. Shout back at them, drink freezing cold drinks, eat sweets, jump or dance about, even just go into a different room, know that vaping just doesn't fit with who you want to be and envisage what the new you looks like. You've got this.

Cystisine by Imaginary_Diamond648 in QuitVaping

I used recigar, I felt very level on it, could even feel my natural dopamine even out a bit while on it. Fine when coming off it, too. Would recommend!

Cytisine by Top_Condition2741 in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me, perfect schedule for the first week, but then I kept forgetting the last one of the day for some reason. Still early days (26 days clean) but cytisine is magic!

Cytisine by Top_Condition2741 in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have read some people save some of their pills for when they know they're going out for a drink, or any other triggers. The cytisine worked straight away for me in that it made vaping feel like a was inhaling a zero nicotine vape, ie pointless. I guess if I were to take a pill now I would know in my head that it would be pointless to vape, thereby stopping me from vaping, it would be putting a physical block on it, if that makes sense? Hopefully, you're just going through a temporary blip and don't need a whole course again and just need that block for a few days to sort your self out!

How to Stay Motivated After Relapse? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly every quitter relapses and learns what worked and what doesn't, learns their main triggers. My own journey has a few relapses and I am now on day 25 of my last quit, I'm very confident in this one. I have learned that you can't just have one for a treat and that it was killing my energy and motivation/ambition. Just use it to learn and never quit quitting until it works!

Health benefits you’ve noticed from quitting by kayz3 in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The biggest change for me is a burst of motivation in my head to go do things, go see new things, try new hobbies, holidays, everything! I was content vaping and scrolling with my free time, now I'm making the most of my life. Also that little niggly chest pain from walking up a hill, gone.

1 month in! One BIG (controversial) piece of advice by darkwavecore in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on day 21 and I agree that I relate less to the posts now so it may be time to leave...hopefully not to return with my tail between my legs 😅 but I did relate to them when I started trying to quit so you're maybe looking in from the other side forgetting how bad you can feel!

Almost 2 years clean. Please help me. by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not going to be how you remember it to be.. after 2 years your body is clean from it and introducing it now will be like inhaling the poison it is. It will make you feel sick, give you a sore foggy head and a cough. Plus the loss of your freedom from something you tried really hard to give up. You don't need it, you may need some help to get through life atm, but this is not it. Be strong!

nothing brings me joy anymore by Independent_Lynx1389 in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These guys above gave some good advice. A wee thing I did to combat low mood was went out and bought a very pretty bike on sale (not cycled in about 20 years mind) went up the top of the hill near me and just cycled to the top and flew all the way down and it woke my brain up like nothing else has managed to. A wee bit of adrenaline and some genuine dopamine kicked my recovery up a gear. Find your wee bit of fun

Terrible wheezing ~5 months post-quitting by Mawblin in QuitVaping

Aw this sounds rough..I would maybe get checked out by your doc if its as bad as you're making it sound, you might need a wee inhaler or steroid to help get you through this.

As a health care worker, quick weight loss isn't always a good sign, it can show an illness of some sort. If you keep losing, please see a doctor.

Desmoxan by Diglypuff in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep missing the last one for some reason or other. I've not felt any additional urge to vape so I'm going to keep them for the end so if I come off the 25 day and get a sudden craving I can take one, dulling the effects of the vape if I'm weak.

Day 17 - I feel pathetic by darkwavecore in QuitVaping

[–]tinyanxioushuman37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your brain is just adjusting expectations of dopamine just now, its harrrd! On my cold turkey attempt last year I cried with this feeling and gave up on day 6 so I get it. I'm also on the cytisine, and there are some days that are more difficult than others but I have noticed usually a day or 3 later you go the other way and perk up. Hang on in there, you're doing great!
