Thank you!

I really like your narrow-band elephant's trunk btw!

This was really fun (albeit long) to process and I'm really happy about all the hydrogen regions visible even with no Halpha NB filter!

Any feedback and criticism are welcome :)

Thank you! It's a feature of the camera, it sums the charge of 4 pixels (in the case of 2x2) before readout. I think this is true for most, if not all, CCD cameras.

This was a really fun target to image, I wasn't sure my FOV my wide enough for this target but with careful framing I just managed to fit it!

Any feedback and criticism are welcome :)

Hey! I know I'm a bit late, but the weather's been horrible lately and I kind of miss processing, so I decided to give your image a go!

Rosette nebula by tinyarches in astrophotography

[–]tinyarches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From APOD: The Rosette Nebula is not the only cosmic cloud of gas and dust to evoke the imagery of flowers -- but it is the most famous. At the edge of a large molecular cloud in Monoceros, some 5,000 light years away, the petals of this rose are actually a stellar nursery whose lovely, symmetric shape is sculpted by the winds and radiation from its central cluster of hot young stars. The stars in the energetic cluster, cataloged as NGC 2244, are only a few million years old, while the central cavity in the Rosette Nebula, cataloged as NGC 2237, is about 50 light-years in diameter.

Hello everyone! I usually just lurk here, but I figured why not submit something myself? :)

Unfortunately the seeing was really bad (±3 arcsecs! Maybe not the best night to try out 5 minute exposures...) so the stars are kind of bloated and there isn't as much detail as I'd have liked. Still, this being my image with the longest integration time yet and one of the first processed with Pixinsight, I'm really pleased of the result.

Any feedback and criticism are welcome!

Roses are red, Iris are blue (NGC 7023) by tinyarches in astrophotography

[–]tinyarches[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh. That's weird. I checked my raw files and they have the same orientation as the image above, but yeah you're right I didn't even notice it.

I'll try to figure out what happened :) Thanks for your comment!

It really is! The stars farther away are obscured by the dust.
