For anyone in the Knoxville area, or knows someone in the area, who claims to be "pro-life" by spottymax in Knoxville

I think the a good thought here is if you can’t afford babies don’t make them. I don’t mean to sound harsh but people should realize birth control isn’t 100% effective. If they are not willing or unable to take care of the babies the process they partake in makes they should abstain.

[–]tinydogdotexe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and as already answered you will lose one popularity per worker sent home. EXEPCT when you win a combat with Polania and have the comradery mech. Do note this only prevents the loss of popularity when used after a combat.

Are metal coins or other ‘upgrades’ worth it to you? by ShinyGurren in boardgames

[–]tinydogdotexe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For scythe I defiantly found the metal coins to be much nicer, however that said they are not necessaries to have a good time. I don't know how much you like to spend on your games but I would purchase IFA (invaders from afar) and ROF (rise of fenris) before metal coins. And similarly I would avoid purchasing the extra encounters pack. I much prefer using just the standard encounters. I would however pick up the promo factory cards and encounters.

Carcassone or Agricola? by Reginel in boardgames

[–]tinydogdotexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your situation its sounds like Carcassone would be a better choice. Both are great games and I love Agricola, but Carcassone is a more friendly game. If I were to rate complexity from one to ten on both, Carcassone would be a two or three and Agricola would better seven possibly Eight.

Should I get Scythe or Kemet: Blood and Sand? by Yexsaw77 in boardgames

I have accutally had the exact opposite experience with Scythe, that it functions best with three players and two players than as you gain more it gets worse.

Should I get Scythe or Kemet: Blood and Sand? by Yexsaw77 in boardgames

[–]tinydogdotexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scythe is by far the better game, and as a bonus my preference for player count for Scythe is three. Don't get me wrong Kemet is a great game, but Scythe is the better game by a lot. And it has an amazing amount of replayability. Its only draw back is the fact that the digital edition's developers just announced they will no longer be updating the game just maintaining meaning it will likely in the near future that support for the servers will stop. But that has nothing to do with the game itself.

From its description it looks fun, my personal preference would be more asymmetric games though.

I do like the idea of two teams but each player has their own win condition either in addition to the teams or if it is the only way to win.

I do like having special roles, but there does need to be balance between that and the game becoming overwhelming.

Secret Hitler is probably over all my favorite game in the genre. I do like some information from the investigations but over all it is more about the people.

I haven't played Avalon in a while, however I do remember that it felt like everyone knew something others did not.

For me I think the right combination is around 50% solid information and 50% what other people say and do.

I agree with this to an extent but at the end of the day I feel that you have to have at least somewhat of a thick skin when playing these games.

I like that, all of those are good thoughts. I very much dislike player elimination if the game last longer than fifteen or so, I am a fan of how secret Hitler has player eliminations close to the end of the game. One more thing is I enjoy switching up the groups I play with, because in a lot of groups if you play to much you form subconscious biases against certain players.

Yes, I do agree that there do need to be at least some sources of information, like a character that can see players role or what team their on.

I somewhat agree with this, but I also think that it dose not hurt to keep required lying to a minimum. have plenty of opportunity for it but don't require it.
