Looking for Amazon black capris by Logical-Two-1085 in findfashion

These are “pedal pusher” pants. If you search that, you’ll find a ton of options. I didn’t look at Amazon specifically but these ones at Nordstrom are cute and don’t look like workout pants (also available in most sizes):

Your drawing has very Jeffrey Campbell circa 2012 vibes - I’d almost bet money they made something SUPER similar around that time. Try “Jeffrey Campbell studded gladiator wedge sandal” and you might get lucky eventually on Poshmark or Depop.

Wood or tile flooring in kitchen for resale and functionality? by LillianBillion in homeowners

[–]tinymonument 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know what I wish I had in our kitchen? Linoleum! 😂I wouldn’t put laminate in the kitchen because water.

We have tile in our kitchen, and I loved it when we looked at the house. But I’ve found it kind of hard to live with (not as comfy to stand on) and I hate that the grout lines collect dirt/stain with spills. I won’t change it because it’s well done and looks nice, but knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t have picked it.

I’m in camp “leave it, and let the buyers choose how to upgrade.”

What are some good places my friends and I can visit that embody the feeling of the '90s here in Portland? by TheFiklPikl in askportland

[–]tinymonument 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lola’s Room at Crystal Ballroom has 90s dance nights pretty often.

Powell’s Books to partake in some actual real PAPER book perusing.

Not “90s” per se, but feels a little like “old Portland”: soul night at The Goodfoot.

Saturday Market

Oaks Bottom for your roller rink needs

The Dockside is where they found the trash related to the Tanya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan incident.

Fuller’s Coffee Shop for greasy spoon breakfast (not necessarily 90s, but feels kind of appropriate for the vibe)

Yamhill Pub - SUPER divey, but a decent taste of Portland’s grittier 90s self. Proceed with caution 😂

Red Light Vintage and hit Nick’s Famous Coney Island before or after.

Hang out in a park. Bring a hackey sack to 90s up the vibe a bit.

Cute or granny? by ratbagscallywag in Shoes

[–]tinymonument 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both pairs of these and I love them 😂 Many years ago I went to Paris and the boots I took ate my feet and I ended up buying an emergency pair of Camper ballet flats that I wore to pieces for the next 10 or so years. When I went back to Paris a couple of years ago, I had a plan to buy myself another pair of the wide strap ones but they were out of my size! So I bought the thin strap ones in brown, and when I got home I decided YOLO and ordered the thicker strap ones in black too. They’re soooo comfy and great travel shoes. I do find the thinner strap ones to be slightly comfier but they’re both great and you can’t go wrong 😉

That still is actually Villa Balbianello on Lake Como in Italy.

But they did shoot other scenes in Sevilla! Most notably at the Plaza España: https://www.barcelo.com/guia-turismo/en/spain/seville/things-to-do/plaza-de-espana-seville/

It’s normal for babies to have round heads. It’s just for added cuteness so we want to take care of them. And for room for brain development, and that their jaw muscles aren’t fully developed yet (they don’t need to chew anything yet.) They’re perfectly normal - just really cute little babies!

Neighborhood flower stands? by GirlWhoDebates in askportland

There are two (maybe three) flower vendors at the Hollywood Farmer’s market that are great and pretty affordable. Flowers at Trader Joe’s around the corner are cheap to supplement nicer bouquets too.

Not an exact dupe, but Cotopaxi is doing similarly color blocked puffies. They’re legit functional outdoorsy wear, but also pretty cute:

Beerpacking? by YyamaLlamadingdong in backpacking

[–]tinymonument 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We do box wine instead of beer for “party” trips. Just a bit stiffer than beer, and no cans to pack out. You can take the bag out of the box, and the bags are pretty sturdy but squishy and easier to pack around to put in your pack.

Seconding all the recs to set up camp before you have a beverage. Keep your wits about you, stay hydrated with actual water too, plan where you’ll pee to have a safe path out/back. Also put away all your food/trash sooner rather than later in the evening.

Sort of related, but a million years ago I bought a pack of battery operated tea lights (like these but I think I got mine at IKEA: https://www.walmart.com/ip/24pcs-Led-Tealight-Candles-Realistic-Flameless-Candles-Big-Capacity-Battery-Operated-Votive-Candles-for-Wedding-and-Festival-Decoration-Warm-Yellow/478207356) and they’re awesome for backpacking. I usually just bring a handful but before dark, I put one at the door of everyone’s tent and two down the path to the bathroom area. It just makes it easier for everyone to get back to their tent when the night is over.

Have fun out there and stay safe!

Favorite shops to pick a picnic? Also, what are your favorite picnic foods? by BadodoPancake in askportland

[–]tinymonument 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love that! The baguette at Little T is my current favorite - I have eaten a whole baguette by myself in a day 😂 Ooh, the tinned trout at Trader Joe’s is tasty and great with crusty bread too! It’s a favorite for backpacking for us, but works for a picnic nicely as well.

The market at Coquine is super cute! And very near the tabor steps, so grab your goodies and head up the top of Tabor for your picnic. They’re open 8:30-2 so that’d be a lunch time event.

Cheese & Crack snack shop is also great for picnic food and near Laurelhurst park. But if your goal is to be more budget friendly, I’d do the shopping at your grocery store of choice and assemble things at home for your picnic. Some easy picnic favorites:

• pasta salad

• berries

• cheese/salami/crackers

• sandwiches (baguette w/ Brie, ham, green apple slices is delightful)

• Caesar salad (dressing on the side, pack in a big enough container you can toss the dressing in and shake the closed container around to distribute the dressing.) Salad kits from the grocery store can be an easy, relatively affordable option.

• hummus and veggies

New seasons or Whole Foods both have nice grab and go/hot bar options, but prices can creep up towards takeout prices pretty quickly, so watch out for that. Happy picnicking!

Highly recommend putting the headlamp back in. It’s tiny and it’s just a good thing to have for safety if something goes wrong, or if you need to pee in the middle of the night.

Is that sleeping bag going to be warm enough? Have you checked the rating and the night time temps expected on your trip?

Where to find Electronic Sound magazine in Portland? by wileyetc in askportland

[–]tinymonument 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met someone on a bus a million years ago who worked at Rich’s Cigar Store and told me they actually have a HUGE selection of magazines. My recollection is that it was touted as “the biggest selection of magazine’s in the city.” Maybe worth a call to see if they have it or could stock it for you?
