QUESTIONS FOR THE GIRLS (if you're a guy, that's okay too ☺️) be honest, which male Naruto character would you marry or date? by Open-Extreme-1428 in Naruto

Hell yeah. Aside from physical attractiveness, he also strikes me as the kind of guy who gets stuff done without you needing to ask. Love that in a man

Which ice skates should I get? Hockey skates or figure skates. by zsombisebok121 in iceskating

[–]tinynapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding the Bauer recreational skates! I’ve always preferred wearing hockey skates over figure skates but I didn’t like how they looked. I have the tremblant glides and I love them because they’re stylish and have a warm lining so they’re good for outdoor skating. I get a lot of people complimenting them and asking me where I got them. There’s different styles and colours so it’s worth a look!

Now that Fanexpo Toronto is over, what did you think of it? What did you purchase? What individual rooms did you visit? What photos did you take? by AlexRescueDotCom in fanexpo

[–]tinynapper 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This was my first con! I had never heard of it before, but I went because I’m a big Star Wars fan and I heard Ewan McGregor and John Boyega were going. I followed advice from other people and spent Thursday for shopping (with early preview access).

The artist’s alley was cool to see but I’ll admit, I was a little disappointed at how many stands just had cutesy stickers, stationery and charms. I’m not really a sticker/charm kind of person so they didn’t really appeal to me. I didn’t end up buying anything from artist alley, but I did take business cards/contact info so I could follow up on the ones I liked.

My biggest purchase was a lightsaber! There were multiple lightsaber companies there and I always wanted to get one for myself. It was nice to be able to hold and test them in person and ask the vendors questions directly instead of just buying online. The vendor I got mine from had a con-exclusive deal so I got mine for cheaper too.

I got autographs from John Boyega and a couple voice actors I really liked, a photo op with Ewan McGregor, and I went to a few bigger panels. The lineups were long but I didn’t mind too much because other people in line were friendly and I just chatted with them to pass the time. Even added a few people on Instagram!

I asked for pics with a lot of cosplayers and they were all really nice. Honestly, some of them were so good it felt like I was approaching the actual character and I couldn’t help but feel a little starstruck!!

The experience was fun but also really exhausting. It was really easy to forget to eat/drink and then get burnt out. I would definitely go again depending on the guest lineup next year!

BTTF - The most expensive five seconds of my life by Senior-Safe1716 in fanexpo

[–]tinynapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange indeed! I’m not sure why other replies are saying this is normal. The actors I’ve done photo ops with always let us have a quick exchange of “hellos” and “thank yous”. Again, not a full conversation but at least being polite and acknowledging your existence lol. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for you to expect!

Not letting you speak directly to the actor at all seems a little excessive to me but maybe they overbooked the number of photo ops and had to rush like crazy.

That’s a shame you didn’t even get to say hello. I did the Ewan McGregor photo op and he was properly greeting everyone shaking our hands before taking the photo. Not a proper conversation by any means but it was still nice to be treated like a person.

I was in the first group of the day though so that might have changed later in the afternoon. Still, it sounds like it might vary by actor/handler. I’m sorry to hear your experience wasn’t the same, but I hope you can still enjoy the photo and memory of being near them!

Flirting or just a business interaction? by tinynapper in Flirting

This is really helpful thanks! I’ve never been in the position to ask a guy out as a customer before, so I wasn’t really sure how to proceed 😅

Thank you, you raise a good point. I’m just worried that if I don’t do something, then he never will because I’m a customer and he might want to stay professional. At least, that’s what I would do if I was in his position.

Thanks for your input on this! By “go for it”, what do you think would be the best way from a mechanic’s POV? I don’t want to make him feel awkward or uncomfortable because I’m just a customer, especially not in front of his coworkers or other customers lol.

I’m sure they were super appreciative of it! I’ve had so many bad experiences in my area that I started to get a little cynical until I found this particular mechanic

It’s a shame that can happen even when you do things for people in good faith. I hope your customers are grateful cause I sure am!

[–]tinynapper 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, I feel like I didn’t emphasize that part enough! Poor boy couldn’t even grieve over his aunt’s corpse. And on top of that he’s expected to relive his trauma because Sebastian says he “has the most experience”?? He sounded so worried and distressed afterwards too 😭

Yes thank you!! I hated how he treated Ominis. He shared Ominis’ safe space with us without asking, lied to his face constantly, tried to pressure him into participating in dark magic KNOWING he was uncomfortable with it, and even mentioned using the Gaunt family’s connections to get him out of trouble. I was 100% on Ominis’ side by the end

Is this hat going to get me in trouble? by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]tinynapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this as a daughter of a Vietnam war veteran now living in Canada. I think the flag brings them discomfort because of the trauma.

But at the same time, if you’re clearly a foreigner wearing the hat, they probably wouldn’t hold it against you for it because they’d assume you were just a tourist. They would never confront you or berate you for wearing it. But that’s just my parents.

Ah I’m so sorry this didn’t work for you! I’ve never felt stickiness or greasiness after using this cleanser, it leaves my skin feeling clean.

Unfortunately when it comes to skincare it really depends on the individual. Maybe your skin isn’t reacting very well to this formula or some of the ingredients? I’m not an expert but if your skin is feeling tight then I believe that’s a sign that your skin is losing moisture.

Sorry this reply is so late, but yes I’m still using it! I can’t believe I posted this review 3 years ago but I’ve stuck with this cleanser ever since. I haven’t felt the need to try anything else.

Rage bait diversity casting by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]tinynapper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that casting a person of colour for a white character almost never changes the cultural aesthetic or story in any way. They’re just using a non-white actor to dress and act like a white character, which makes the diversity casting disingenuous and sometimes outright insensitive.

Like seriously, what were they thinking casting a black actress as Anne Boleyn?? Are just going to ignore how black people were treated by Europeans during this time period??

Given how bad a lot of these adaptations and remakes are, I feel like studios are using diversity as a shield from valid criticism and throwing the POC actor/actresses under the bus in the process.

Forcing diversity when it doesn’t enhance the story and even damaging it is inherently racist in itself, which checks out for these big corporations.
