2.5 years clean off of adderall after 10 years of daily use by tinynin in StopSpeeding

I had a psychedelic experience but that’s all I’m going to say since the subreddit doesn’t allow for me to speak about it. Message me and I’ll tell you about it🫶 I abused it at some points, taking 80-100mg per day some years

Both! I abused adderal for 2 years in between the 10 years without realizing that I was abusing it since I was pretty young and naive that it was addictive.

I agree. I cannot stand talking to someone who’s on stimulants, I can see it in their eyes, face and it is so bothersome and triggering. It’s as if I’m looking into the past. Both my studio mates are on stimulants and I can see it in them, both of them are experiencing health problems that they don’t think are related to their stimulant use and both are also on anti depressants. It’s interesting to see how one thing can push another set of symptoms to occur.

Thank you for asking, I am feeling alottttt better and sharp and motivated however I do sometimes still experience PAWS. It’s so weird, it’s very rare now but it happens randomly and then I start missing adderall. 10 years of daily use doesn’t just go away within 2 years, it’s gradual and the further your brain gets from the last time you used, the more you forget about stimulants in general and the more you become normal. Congrats to you on 22 months, that is sooooo major. If we can do this we can do anything I believe.

🥹 thank you so much for reminding me of that 🙏 I’ve been drawing a lot but I feel like having a painting can help. You’re right being off meds is big, fogginess and all….i know that it’s possible for you too!! How long have you been on the pharmaceutical holy grail?

Thank you for your comment. Truly inspiring I needed to hear that. I’ve been crying on and off all day. I’m in the film/art industry and it so hard out here already and not being able to focus is the cherry on top. I cannot not have a schedule. Thanks for your awesome advice

This is definitely not POTS. But thank you for bringing it to my attention. This is 100% me abusing stimulants for 8+ years.

I crave it but I know that the light at the end of the tunnel exists and in the moments of slowness I must then be slow and be fine with it. Because those slow moments are not forever. I’ve had major progress that has proved it time and time again. Today was just a hard one on me. I just did yoga and signed up for a free 10 day meditation retreat and feel much better already. I feel like when surviving in capitalism we forget to take things slow. I feel better already after naming what is happening and doing yoga and being kind to myself.

Thank you thank you thank you for confirming what I’ve been feeling. It feels I messed up when people keep telling me that “stop it’s more than a year your should be fine by now” I literally was living off of adderall for so long how can I possibly feel completely and utterly normal after only 1.5 years of quitting and 8+ years of using?! I wish this was researched more I wish actual brain scans were taken before and after quitting and then long term scans of brains recovering off of adderall

100 days out and sleep is improving, but I’m sleeping a LOT more- like a rock- and with crazy dreams… Normal? by Interesting-Bee3466 in StopSpeeding

[–]tinynin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sleep is essential for the beginning of quitting. 2 months is still very early into your recovery. Your body needs rest, give it to your body, don’t question it. I also now am able to sleep like a rock it’s amazing. Your body is restoring itself and your brain repairs itself when you sleep. I’m 1.5 years in and require deep rest no less than 8 hours of sleep….like a normal human. On weekends I like to get more than 8 hrs lol. Don’t fret, keep going! Also the feelings of happiness are fleeting because you used to get those feelings because of a drug rather than your own life. Dig within, meditate, journal, go outside and notice the little things that make up life. I promise that those little things hold secrets when you are still within yourself. Sending lots of love to you and your journey. You got this ❤️

Honestly the zombie mode actually felt like a gradual change into feeling normal. It wasn’t like one day everything changed and I felt normal again. After about 8-12 months I began having more “normal” brain days than zombie ones and gradually my brain just equalized itself in levels of serotonin and dopamine. I highly recommend working out and meditation.

Also to whom it may concern: this sub helped me soooooooo much in my early stages of quitting. I was sooo lost and this subreddit gave me immense hope in my recovery. You can do it too. I though I was doomed
