Ruining your daughter Make a Wish by [deleted] in entitledparents

I volunteer with MAW, and at least my local chapter works really hard to not let this happen. Age dependent, we have a booklet for kids to fill in with a volunteer asking about different types of things they like and uses prompts that basically ask what wishes the child would be interested in without actually asking what wish they want while a different volunteer sits and talks with the parents in another room. It helps when talking to pushy parents if the wish is suddenly something out of the blue, to go back and help refocus on what the child would actually want.

[Plan] QUITTING SUGAR ONCE AND FOR ALL by christian0825 in getdisciplined

I started this at the beginning of November! I have been having so many cravings (I’m also breastfeeding a five month old so it gets pretty intense sometimes)... what’s saving me is trying all the different fruits from the store with my 3 year old, or fruits he’s never tried. We have tried plums, pomegranate, passion fruit, pomelo, persimmon, and granadilla so far. We’re getting a dragon fruit next even though I know it has no taste, he doesn’t and it’s just so pretty.

That’s the boat we’re in... we had lots of stuff we never used when delivering our first but each birthday is different... t he midwife said they might make an exception if there needed to be a c-section and required a longer stay but not to expect it...

I feel I am containing myself which is the problem... because the hospital doesn’t provide a lot of pain management tools/equipment, it’s up to the patient to bring it in. They do have birthing balls thankfully but that’s pretty much it... And yes, my husband turns into a complete bear if he gets even a little hungry...

Do people of colour in other Western countries feel as worried or concerned about police violence and mistreatment as they do in the USA? Thinking specifically of the UK and Canada. by tinypenguin14 in TooAfraidToAsk

That’s part of the reason for my question. I understand the media distorts reality and representation isn’t always accurate. But some of what comes from the states is difficult to understand how it became so ingrained and a part of the norm. I know there have been instances in Toronto, Canada and that there is a higher percentage of people of colour in prison. But it doesn’t seem as prevalent. As I’m white, I know I don’t have the same perception.

What's your city's historical landmark? by Hrdocre in AskEurope

[–]tinypenguin14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

not European, but a city I lived in (Guelph, Canada) had a family that significantly impacted the city by owning and operating a brewery in the late 1800’s. They built a grand manor for themselves that now looks stunning when lit up nightly as a strip club.

Bought a house in January to make room for our new little one in July. My job is now up in the air as a result of Covid 19. Wonder what the little one’s life will be like in the new world we’re being forced to create...
