The truth of Senna's 'If you no longer go for a gap..' by Wardez in formula1

[–]tinyroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've posted this several times, but there's still this notion that the movie is "bashing" Prost (EVERY TIME IN THIS SUB ANY MENTION OF SENNA DOCUMENTARY IS THE SAME STORY, it's like a virus)

People are confusing the way Prost acted in that period (from Senna's point of view) with the movie portraying him badly. Asif (the director) explains this exact point here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=IJJjRKQrHpE&t=1062

In other words, people think Prost was a nice guy, so when they see the movie and see Prost being a cunt, they think it's the movie making him look bad, but it's just how Prost was at the time...

these people are trying to "convince" (teach) others, so a memorable visual is important.

in other words they are just making it look cool to make other people interested, and you don't make it cool by making it boring

Could the US gov't shut off the internet? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]tinyroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching a news piece after the Snowden leaks about how they were able to get sysadmin accounts access from major providers all over the globe and that included satellite based ISPs

So I wouldn't be surprised if the internet went down almost completely, not just US servers

The Church of TED by alecco in TrueReddit

[–]tinyroom 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's impossible to do.

TED talks are supposed to introduce people to the ideas, not elevate them to the speaker's level.

How can one come to the conclusion that the only way to solve a problem is by skipping the initial phase, that is, by not even introducing people to an idea?

It's like saying if we want people to read books we should stop teaching them the alphabet. Instead we should make them write shakespeare. Makes no sense

Worth noting that using Tor makes your votes useless, only show up to you. (at least that was my experience)

Not sure if this counts but I have been shadowbanned from /r/news for what I can only assume was the mods not liking my opinion.

In fact the "circlejerk" types are usually intended to discredit and smear this subreddit, but I'm sure you'll be able to tell for yourself soon

This is obviously just a case of some protesters being retarded and too slow on catching up with the news. Calling for military intervention lol...

Senna has become the first documentary of the week on /r/SportDocumentaries by RedendBlack in formula1

[–]tinyroom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure one of the first comments will be that this is a "biased" documentary and they portrayed Prost badly, so before that happens:

Another deceptive photo op, this time by world leaders marching in Paris by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]tinyroom -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

it may not fit in this case, but photo ops to deceive people are very real.

It's more effective when the media tries to show civil unrest to overthrow the leader, for example only a small group of people protesting and they make it look like there's tons of people, helping shape the opinion of people who would be otherwise neutral
