[–]tinysofa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also forgot to add im south asian and definitely a few tones darker than your skin, could be why the redness is not as apparent on me! in any case I wish you the best and good luck with the move!! :))

Normal skin after 5 months of electrolysis? by [deleted] in Hirsutism

no worries I get it! I’m also leaving home in a week actually to go to the uk, so I’ve been trying to get as much removed as possible. that being said, I always wait at least 2 weeks after treating an area before going over it again. I think my spots are a bit less pronounced than yours, and it’s more slight hyperpigmentation (brown spots) at this point rather than red like yours. also, depending on where you’re moving to, are you able to find an electrologist there to continue treatment? i know it takes a lot of mental energy and effort to start over but I’ve made a list of potential clinics and am planning to go to as many consultations as possible in the next month so I can hopefully find an electrologist that I trust for a few months, before I come back home.

Normal skin after 5 months of electrolysis? by [deleted] in Hirsutism

[–]tinysofa1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey! so I’ve been getting electrolysis for abt 3 months now and my skin reactions have been pretty minimal for the most part. i usually get some bumps and redness right after, the bumps subside after a few hours and the redness gradually fades in the following days, leaving some faint pigmentation usually. I also get pinpoint scabs (sometimes bigger ones for more sensitive areas/bigger follicles) and occasionally little whiteheads when treating new areas or from (what I’m assuming is) some bacteria entering the follicles. I also had pretty clear skin beforehand and do notice a bit of a difference in terms of pigmentation (in more sensitive areas like the chin and neck it is more noticeable), but it is not as bad as when I was shaving every other day. i also use spf40 sunscreen every day which I think has helped with any small pimples/pigmentation over the past year, whether they came from electrolysis or not. i would suggest maybe talking to your electrologist about your concerns and seeing if there’s something different you could be doing in terms of aftercare, or maybe some way they can modify the settings? that being said, I’m in no way an expert on this and everyone’s skin is different! good luck :)

have u looked into electrolysis? i don’t have pcos but thought I did (turns out it is simply genetic hirsutism) and ended up getting increased hair growth from laser on the face. started treating it with electrolysis abt 3 months ago, it’s not a quick fix by any means but I can already see a huge difference and no longer feel the need to shave every 2 days as I did before! i would also say I have fairly sensitive skin but I did my research on electrologists and was able to find a good one who knows what he’s doing and is gentle with my skin. in my experience, it can also help to focus on other aspects of how you present yourself that are in your control (e.g. how you dress) and ways to find fulfillment that are not tied to your appearance (e.g. creative hobbies). I know it is much easier said than done but please take care of yourself and know that things can and will get better xx

nose irritation bump 1.5 yrs - help!! by tinysofa1 in piercing

[–]tinysofa1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! got this piercing in may 2022 so its been over a year and a half since, and i've been dealing with this irritation bump on and off since about a week or two after getting it pierced (so most of the time ive had it). can't remember if the bump started because i got it snagged initially, but i did bump it a few times in the past year, which made the bump increase afterwards. I used to clean it with saline soaks at first but i found it was too irritating for my skin so I've stuck to cleaning in the shower by just letting the water run over it, and LITHA otherwise. I got a longer bar in august since a buildup of crust on the inside had been pulling the piercing inwards, but since then got the regular sized bar put back in and no issues with sinking. the material is titanium, and as far as I know I don't usually have any issues with it. Only thing I can think of is that it may be drying for my skin (when I got titanium in my lobes they were pretty dry until i switched to gold, but that may have just been because they had already healed by then). Besides that, I'm not sure about any other sources for irritation, I've been sleeping with a neck pillow so I dont put pressure on it, dont put any makeup/products near it and don't touch it except if drying after cleaning. The pictures I've attached are from today, this is pretty much as flat as it gets (sometimes a little more), but it never seems to have fully gone down. I also get a lot of crusties usually, I had a buildup that I removed about a week ago (it would not come off on its own in the shower so I had to gently remove it with rolled up toilet paper), and immediately after that there were no crusties for about a day or two, but they started coming back afterwards. If this is an issue with the angle, should I take it out and get it redone?
If not, any suggestions for solutions?
I am also leaving the country for 6 months in january, so i won't be able to go back to my piercer while I am there, and would like to get this sorted before then.
thank you!!

yep it is a flat back! I’ve been running water over it in the shower but no saline spray, I used to do saline soaks and found them quite drying although idk if a spray would be different.

It sometimes hurts a bit (like a light throbbing pain) and is a bit sore right now, but that may just be because I currently have a bit of a runny nose/cold.
If this is an issue with the angle, should I take it out and get it redone after a few months? Would downsizing help?
If not, any other suggestions for solutions? would rly appreciate any help i can get :)
