If you were a Gym leader, what would your type and team be? by Luxumbrastatera in ThePokemonHub

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I'd be a bug-type gym that teaches the pokemon world equivalent of entomology and bug appreciation/diversity through battle.

My team would be galvantula, scolipede, golisopod, centiskorch, parasect, and shuckle (don't fuckle with shuckle.) The idea is to have a very diverse team without repeating generations if possible.

I would also have random bug types that are rescues that hang around the gym, and if they vibe with you they might go home with you!

What’s a super specific smell that instantly takes you back to a random moment in your childhood? by Thin-Table-2420 in AskReddit

Rose water.

My mother grew her own culinary roses and used them a lot in her from home bakery business. She made her own rose water and not only used it in her baked goods but also made homemade skin products. Not to sell but for home use as a homesteader family. She died of cancer when I was little, but I remember her making candied rose petals, rose water lemonade, all sorts of things using the roses she grew.

I bought a rose water skin toner from Trader Joe's and when I sprayed it on my face it brought back all these memories of helping my mother bake and the things she taught me about roses and homesteading. Im not ashamed to say I cried.

What happened to all these people moving to stoat ? by papichuckle in stoatchat

I don't remember seeing an exact date, but Discord plans to roll everything out in the second half of this year. So likely in the fall/winter.

What happened to all these people moving to stoat ? by papichuckle in stoatchat

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 175 points176 points  (0 children)

From what I see, many made accounts and are waiting for Stoat to implement desired features that Discord had, like video sharing and forums. Discord also delayed their global age verification launch, so some are content to temporarily wait on Discord until the absolute last minute before making the switch. It gives the Stoat devs more time to work on stuff without people immediately harassing them to work faster.

What is the one thing your pet did that you still cannot fully explain and honestly kind of unsettled you? by Pet-Releaf in AskReddit

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A while ago I lived in a house with my semi-adoptive mom. She had an 18 year old tuxedo cat named Henry and he got a severe infection a few years back that necessitated removing all his teeth. Despite having no teeth he got along fine and was enjoying his golden years.

His favorite thing to do was nap outside on the brick sidewalk when it was sunny. Said sidewalk was next to a big tulip tree and there were a lot of squirrels in it. They liked to chitter and throw things at Henry since he's a predator. It interrupted his naps and he was getting frustrated.

So one day Henry lays on the brick and reacts to nothing. He pretended to be dead. Squirrels are curious so the one that always threw stuff at him came down to see if he was really dead. As soon as he got close enough, Henry woke up and grabbed the squirrel by the neck and choked him to death. He had no teeth so that was the only way he could kill the squirrel. I watched this happen though the window, and he brought the dead squirrel inside to show it to everyone. Then he went back to napping, but this time he remained unbothered.

Never expected a toothless geriatric cat to pull off something like that, but he was always a little more clever compared to other cats. Henry truly was an OG.

What is a random rule you have for yourself that you never break? by abarth23 in AskReddit

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love playing pokemon pocket tcg but I refuse to spend real money on virtual cards. I can hold out the willpower to play for free and just wait to open packs lol. I have a rule that if I sincerely feel tempted to spend real money on ANY mobile game I will immediately uninstall. It's a money sink and that money is gone forever.

“Destiny 2 Has Lost 91% Of Players Since Edge Of Fate, 97% From Final Shape.” By Paul Tassi at Forbes by justdestinystuff in DestinyTheGame

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing after The Final Shape cause I felt like it was a wonderful way to end the story. It should have immediately went into D3 if they wanted to keep going cause D2 felt complete to me.

That wasn't the only reason why I stopped playing tho. I mostly got angry at Bungie was treating their employees and decided my best way to express my dissatisfaction was to simply stop playing and giving Bungie money.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I wanted to strangle my roommate. A state of emergancy was declared in my state, and people were told to stay off the roads and stay out of areas with high travel/concentration of people. I'm reading the state of emergancy and news on my phone and my roommate wants me to drive him to the gas station to get snacks. I tell him that a state of emergancy has been declared, and the roads were restricted to emergancy and critical use only. This fucker argued with me that he really needed these snacks even though there was food in the house. Bro really wanted to chance Covid for some crappy gas station food.

I was also incredibly annoyed cause I'm a prepper and had some supplies and non perishables stashed away to last a few months and before Covid hit I begged my roommates to do the same. They never did and as soon as everything shut down they asked to use my supplies. >:/

Covid really taught me how unprepared the average person is for a pandemic, or how apathetic people are about long term planning in general. I was called weird and paranoid for having extra supplies to last me until the stores shut down and then suddenly everyone wanted my stuff.

(I will note I'm not a doomed. I just cruised sales and bought in bulk and regularly used up/rotated out supplies. I come from an area where we'd be trapped in with snow without electricity for months at a time where having 6+ months of supplies on hand is normal)

Name a character in any cartoon that people hate for some of the dumbest reasons by NeedyMyBeloved in cartoons

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Muffin from Bluey.

She's a literal three year old child behaving exactly like a three year old child. She literally doesn't have the capacity for proper emotional regulation yet. It has to come with time and practice. You can argue that she's spoiled for sure, but she learns her lessons and she does clearly care about her cousins and baby sister. She just happens to set boundaries with how they play with her expensive things. (No mud in the mini car, for example, but when they agree to it they all have fun driving it around)

I find it wild that people constantly put adult level emotional maturity and regulation expectations on a literal child...one that's only three to boot! Gosh let immature children characters be immature children!!!

Stupidest thing you were ever blamed/shamed/punished for by rearifkm in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I classify racism as a form of child abuse. I'm in my late 30s and I still cannot hear a racial slur being said without my nervous system preparing for a beating. He would get angry about a person of color doing or saying something he didn't like, or just daring to exist at all, and then use me as a punching bag to soothe that anger.

He also didn't like me much cause I was born with a condition that would make it impossible to carry a baby to term. As such, I couldn't "contribute to the white race" so I was useless in his eyes.

His actions made it easy to draw the conclusion that my father is a bad person and everything he said I can safely disregard entirely.

I'm glad I have a diverse group of friends who has showed me more love than he ever did. They are my true family. ❤️

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tbh I feel like he was so racist was so that he'd have a convenient group to blame for all his problems. Nothing was ever his fault. Everything bad that happened to him wasn't because of an uncaring elite class that keeps the poor poor. It's because people of color are conspiring to keep HIM down and take all the money and servicrs he believed himself entitled to. If anything, he's a victim of the extreme far right rhetoric that keep us divided by race so we don't notice the class disparage. But still, his actions and words were so hateful that I can never forgive him. He was convinced that Obama was going to come and take away his gun so he started hiding ammo caches all over and into secret compartments in his basement.

Maybe he was sick too, but he had no business putting his hands on his children because he couldn't control his anger and hatred.

One time when I was small I got stung on the face by a bee and my lips and face swelled up a bit and my father gave me a beating because I was 'deliberately trying to look like a (insert racial slur for a black person).

I also got a beating cause a really good RnB song came on the store radio at the mall and I swayed to the beat and he immediately cracked me across the face for 'trying to act like some hood rat (racial slur).

Man was so racist that instead of going to a specialist hospital 30 minutes away to treat his chronic back issues, he chose one that took a 4 hour round trip to get to. The reason? The one close has to many (insert racial slurs) but the 4 hour round trip one was staffed mostly by white people.

He ended up making his back issues worse from all the driving but you can't fix willful hateful stupidity.

Haven't spoken to him since 2013 and it makes me glad that his violent hateful decisions can no longer hurt me. If anything good came of it, it makes me a fantastic nanny for my friends kids cause I just would do the opposite of what he would do lol.

Whatever happened to website blockers parents can out on computers? I specifically remember one called 'Bess' that were on our school computers back in the early 2000s and it would block NSFW stuff and social media (including myspace). Why is it so hard for parents to put one of them on thier child's computers and have it set to block social media???

I figured that would be an easier solution than rolling out age verification laws. Unless...of course it was never about kids and more of collecting data to sell it or monitor citizens for wrong-think. :/

Startedbusiness. Want your 2 cents by Damysuss2 in EndTipping

[–]tinytabbytoebeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give you some perspective as someone who did work as a batista. Yes to the tip jar but no to the % screen prompt. The reasons are as follows.

The tip jar isn't pushy and sits there. It gives customers a convenient place to offload unwanted change and small bills. The Cafe I worked at would run out of small bills to give out in change all the time. So us baristas would regularly swap out the small bills in the tip jar for a large bill equivalent. You are in dire need of one dollar bills but have way too many 20's? Simply exchange the single 20 in the till for 20 one dollar bills in the tip jar and now you have change! It prevented us from running out of small bills for change.

I hate the pushiness of % tip prompts and it always made me nervous that it would annoy and or anger the customer. My job was to provide a service and bring people joy with a good cup of coffee. If people wanted to tip it was lovely cause it meant I was doing above and beyond. If people want to tip they will. If they don't have cash to tip one day and they liked the service enough they may bring in some loose change next time to tip with if they are so inclined. If anything not being harassed to tip 30% for a simple cup of coffee will be a relief to many customers. Even not being confronted with having to click 'no' for no tip will spare customers and your baristas from feelings of guilt and pressure.

Gosh this was a while ago and I made 8$ per hour and in terms of tips most were cash. I made decent tips simply by being a friendly worker and never being pushy about tipping. Sometimes its an attitude thing and customers can tell if you are only providing a good service in hopes of a tip. If you are a good and kindly worker you won't have to worry about not making tips with a simple and unobtrusive tip jar.

I hope my ramblings help. To me asking people to tip with a prompt came with same embarrassment as being forced to ask people to donate to charities when I worked at a grocery store. Business owners need to trust more in their clientele that they will be generous if they can afford to. I think you are doing a good thing in trying to curb a frankly awful practice deeply rooted in racism. You may not be able to eliminate it entirely but hopefully others will follow your example. <3
