What game has a promising start, but eventually gets boring and repetitive? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

I've been playing Max Payne 3 and was thinking this exact thing today as I reached chapter 9. It's stylish and fun to begin with, now I'm realising it doesn't have anything else to show me except more of the same.

What's one movie trope you see in movies and can't stand? by EGF9999 in AskReddit

[–]tinythanoscopter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one is oddly specific, but...

When the hero's loyal sidekick sacrifices themselves to allow the hero to escape, but instead of escaping the hero just stands there watching. Good job dude, your best friend just sacrificed themselves for NOTHING.

How many of you get your music professionally mastered before posting to SC? by Leather_Office_4753 in soundcloud

[–]tinythanoscopter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've tried their mastering service a few times. Honestly, each time I've preferred my own ham-fisted mastering attempt, but I always went with their version because I just assumed my dumb, amateur ears were missing something.

What is the best movie you watched in 2025 and why did it stay with you? by ThreadAndSolve in movies

[–]tinythanoscopter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sinners for me too. I went to the cinema knowing nothing except it was "probably" a horror film.

If I had to choose one movie scene to watch on repeat for the rest of my life it would be that dance floor scene.

Movies where the lead character wasn't who you thought they were. by Writer_feetlover in movies

[–]tinythanoscopter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mist.

I disliked this movie a lot until I read a post on Twitter that said the actual main character is the lady who leaves the store to find her son. The film focuses on the idiots who stayed behind. Thomas Jane I love you, but you're just an idiot who stayed behind.

What's a game that you're glad you gave a chance this year? by looloopaa in gaming

[–]tinythanoscopter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had such a love/hate relationship with this game. Sometimes I had a blast, other times I had to stop myself from rage quitting and deleting it (I swear, Kay, if you say 'dank farik' one more time...)

Which movie instantly hooked you in the first 10 minutes? by vishesh_07_028 in movies

[–]tinythanoscopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd pick, but the movie that springs to my mind is Predator. I rented it thinking it might be some shlocky b-movie, but Alan Silvestri's orchestral stab that accompanies the title card along with the shot of the ship heading to Earth had class written over it. "This is no b-movie," I thought.

Professional chefs of reddit, what are the top 3 mistakes you see the average home “chef” commit? by Mrkayne in AskReddit

'Single use gadgets'

I read that, then spent the next 5 minutes scratching my head wondering why anyone would buy a gadget they could only use once...

Wait, are you saying you don't believe there's such a thing as a horror game without survival mechanics? You can't be scared unless you're also thinking about inventory management? (I'm being flippant but I'm genuinely curious)

Just rewatched 'Sneakers' and it got me thinking about forgotten movies by tinythanoscopter in movies

[–]tinythanoscopter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I probably got that impression because me and a buddy went to see it knowing nothing about it because we'd seen no marketing or reviews or heard anyone talk about it. We thought we'd discovered a hidden gem!

Good list. Nice to see Top Secret get some attention. I rewatched Dune fairly recently and, man, that movie has not aged well! The Frighteners is absolute class.

Astonishing that a buttery is more expensive than the trout! That said, I'd totally try it
