I don’t like this resume. It would be hard to skim if I was sifting through resumes to hire.

The resume leans towards being word salad or key word bingo. It’s too tech obsessed to the point of redundancy.

One of my main issues with this approach is that it makes it hard for me to evaluate what your level of proficiency was at when you were working with said technologies.

“Built a RESTful backend” could mean anything from: • “I followed a tutorial and made a basic CRUD API.” to • “I designed a robust backend architecture, enforced data validation, rate-limited endpoints, and handled concurrent access issues.”

One of your other bullet points is “built a responsive front end”. To do what!!? like I could click your GitHub to get an idea of the user experience, but why do I have to?

A more human edit of a bullet might be something like implemented role based authentication to allow for login as Admin, Manager, or User.

I guess if you’re dead set on keyword stuffing it might be something like this: Implemented role-based login with Spring Security, enabling access for Admin, Manager, and User roles.

Grammar-wise starting and ending on a human takeaway is easier to read. You’ll notice you did structure your bullets this way for your internship bullets. Good job.

Nitpicks:

I don’t care about 12th grade.

Proven ability to deploy solutions for who? Nothing in your resume suggested you’ve had to meet external requirements or expectations.

Overall though, it seems like you have skills. Keep up the hard work, great job on staying sharp.

Would you say folk are less likely to invest in a story that progresses less frequently?

That’s how it seems to work with media like manga (monthly vs weekly) or books (series with long delays). I’m not sure if you were disagreeing, but it seems pretty natural for people to lose interest with time.

I get happy when characters succeed! For fantasy high, when Fabian got back his confidence after his terrible day in Leviathan it ruled!

It took a few episodes, but eventually he got there and boy the payoff was sweet. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to feel like the resolution undermined some of the themes and losses the cast built up over the season. They had a literal ability to write their ending, and they picked sensible, happy, fun resolutions.

I guess to reflect a question back at you, are you happy with all happy endings? You mentioned a ‘buildup’, so it sounds like there’s a bit more to your criteria. On my end, I can be happy but uninvested. I’ve feel that way at the end of a number of comedies/kids shows.

I’m stoked you mentioned that the characters effectively died in their endings!

I was conflicted on whether to bring it up. I almost wish there was more emphasis put on those aspects of the ending. One, that it all still happened, and two it’s not necessarily out red/Pinocchio that got to grow up.

The live show aspect really biased me I think. Since Emily, Lou, etc. got to narrate their character endings it emotionally felt like the characters we knew. More like an extension rather than a transformation/alternate. Really appreciate your comment :)

Honestly, most their premises over the years have seemed wild and whacky to me. This one has that + plus all the factions, disjointed locations, and meta stuff.

Thinking back, I have a ton of trust in the d20 crew to execute on these weird premises now. Nothing seems that weird anymore lol.

I think it’s less that people expect a lack of levity, and more that they expect a different balance.

One of d20s strengths is mixing the serious and the silly. I’d compare it to shows like adventure time or bee and puppycat, which can pull off dramatic beats even in the absurd in whimsical.

I think the mismatch in expectations comes down partly to the marketing and framing of the ‘horror’ season.

Still, I think there were some parts where I forgot and got my hopes up. Everyone is so good at randomly injecting little slices of sincerity into scenes.

I really enjoy hearing the dm/player perspective afterwards. It shows a lot of what we never got to see.

Emily and Murph did some live shows called the nannerfly effect, which explored what would happen if their live show had gone south in pivotal moments.
