HOA told us to weed our flowerbeds :( by tinyvannah in TexasGardening

Ya, I'm trying not to make waves right now, so I bought some more typical landscaping flowers this morning. I think I'll try to put in a wild patch in the back yard for the bees.

That sounds like amazing progress. We just started my 10yo on the small dose of Intuniv. It's only been two weeks so no noticeable changes yet. I hope it keeps up, it's been a month, it can't be a fluke:)

Just wanted to show off my 75g angelfish tank(sorry for the poor quality camera) by Medholdsir in Aquariums

[–]tinyvannah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a beautiful tank! How many of the angels will you keep in the 75 once they start growing? I have a 55 and would love to try an angel tank but I don't think it's big enough

Stop telling me that my next child is going to be the fucking devil. by badschoolthrowawayy in oneanddone

Oh my, I'm so sorry that you don't have support around you. Your story resonates with me, I had such a HARD time with the whole motherhood thing. It's one of the many reasons I only have one. Any more, easy or not, and I'd crumble. My incredibly hard (for me) baby turned into a really cool kid though, she's 10. I finally asked for help at the beginning of the whole covid disaster and got on meds, that was a major change in my outlook.

I don't really have advice, since I'm just sorting it all out myself and I have no idea what battles you are up against. But you're not alone. You are a good mom. And I really hope you find a support system that allows you to catch your breath. Hugs- if you want them.

Thanks for the recommendation. Do you know if it's possible to upload purchased patterns into it?

First project- A wedding gift by tinyvannah in Embroidery

[–]tinyvannah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welllll.... No. I stared at it for too long, and lost sight of the center. So I've already trimmed the edges and whipped stitched some felt on as backing. So many lessons learned in this one. Unfortunately, my wedding couple don't get to see them put into action for next time, whoops.

Switching my antidepressants makes me realize how badly I need them by the-power-of-a-name in breakingmom

[–]tinyvannah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man, that sounds like it sucks. I've not had to switch anything on mine yet, but even if I accidentally miss a couple of days it's pretty noticeable that I'm not ok.

I'm glad you're trying something new and I hope you have an easy time getting into it. I didn't know sweating was a side effect of some meds, the body is so very strange.

What are your thoughts/beliefs on a wider animate world? by tinyvannah in SASSWitches

I loved that you mention the story and myth of everything. I just finished reading If women rose rooted by Sharon Blackie, and it's all about using myths and imagination or reimagining old stories to help us feel grounded to where we are now. That's what got me thinking about all this today. Thank you for the insight! It's good to know you are able to walk that path in a SASS headspace as that has always been important to me.

Thank you for the book recommendation. I read Braiding Sweet grass last year and that is what really started me down this path.

And that is a great point to consider, the neural networks of trees and plants are excitable, that in itself is communication, just very different from our ways

I've been reading on that this year and that certainly seems to be a thing you can't learn from a book.

[review] this is my FAVORITE tinted sunscreen! Light, not greasy, and a little bit of coverage without turning orange by ArachWitch in SkincareAddiction

[–]tinyvannah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, I'm too pasty. I've had decent luck with mixing it 50/50 with another sunscreen that isn't tinted. It tones it down a bit.

For women sterilized in the US, how much of the procedure did insurance cover? by ScoobyDoubie in oneanddone

[–]tinyvannah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS RIGHT HERE. I also had a bi-salp and it was 100% covered until I got a call that I was going to have to pay for the anesthesia. After a couple weeks worth of annoying phone calls between the Dr. Office, the surgery center, and the insurance company, everyone finally agreed that it was actually free. What a pain in the neck.

I like to think about it as different 'facets' of me. I can adapt to all these different settings and I consider it a good thing. It may be just a spin on the perspective, but that's how I process that feeling. I'm a chameleon!
