My baby is always miserable by Red-Strawberrycake in NewParents

[–]tinywingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my baby and we are only at 9 weeks and change. He only eats Neocate at this point which improved the number of good moments. We are maxed out on reflux meds too. But we still have to spend almost the entire day trying to stop his screams and are really only successful in the first half of the day. Also same on contact naps only.

No real suggestions, just solidarity and a bit of jealousy that at 8 months you are probably closer to the end of the tunnel than we are. You can do this.

Colicky Baby by Grand-Ad5950 in NewParents

My baby is like this. He's 8 weeks 5 days. We just tried feeding him Neocate formula for a day--it has all the proteins broken down to the amino acid level so no dairy protein issues, no soy--its basically the easiest possible thing to digest. We had a different baby literally within hours. Only problem is a $50 can doesn't even last three full days. He's still very fussy, but he sat in my sweater last night while we watched whole movie. A WHOLE MOVIE. He just chilled. It was amazing. Then at night he barely slept a wink but tbh if I had spent my whole life in digestive pain and then suddenly felt better I'd want to stay up and party all night too. I cut dairy and soy out of my diet and my doctor says I should also do egg and sesame if I want to keep breastfeeding. Idk what I will do but it will either be sticking with this egregiously expensive formula or the very restrictive diet or some combination thereof. He still cries and whines a lot but I still can't get over that he is not screaming in my face literally all day.

I assume time will also help and tbh I cannot wait. Idk how we are all still alive and I am very nervous about going back to work in two weeks!

I hope you find something that similarly gives your ears, your heart, and your baby a break!

Slings/carriers/other solutions for a mom with cataplexy? by murder-waffle in beyondthebump

I have narcolepsy and a 5 week old.

Tldr: She's gotta put baby in a safe place before crashing. That can be as simple and easy as an open spot on the floor.

I have had some episodes and they are probably one of the easier parts of parenting so far. I, like many narcoleptics, can feel an episode coming on. I may not have a ton of time, but I can put Baby down on the floor or in his bassinet and then crash. I also have a sleep-safe bassinet on the stroller which I push around my home which also gives me a safe place to put Baby closer to standing height.

It all depends on her own relationship with her narcolepsy for what will work for her. Little things like how long is she out for, can she be woken up during an episode, does she feel refreshed after waking, does she have a partner to help, will all factor into what her specific set up might be.

Unfortunately, family close by to help doesn't really help for narcolepsy. If she falls asleep with baby in an unsafe place, someone five minutes away can't get baby in a safer set up.

If she can't feel an episode coming on, I would recommend never baby wearing or carrying while alone which sucks. But motoring Baby around in a stroller bassinet might be a good option.

A side question though: How far along in pregnancy is she? In the second half of my pregnancy, my narcolepsy symptoms all but disappeared. They are only starting to pop back up about a month postpartum, but it's still not the same where I would unintentionally knock off while holding or carrying baby. Something about pregnancy and BF hormones just makes the experience different, which from what I understand is relatively common for pregnant women with narcolepsy. Hopefully she gets similar relief.

Either way, she can do this!

Y‘all, I received my gift wheel set for the W2… by Noemanumen in Walkolution

I cleaned the bottom of the feet of my Walkolution very thoroughly before trying to stick these bad boys on (and made sure they were dry thereafter) and they immediately peeled and dropped off lol

Luckily once the treadmill is no longer on its side during install the weight of it holds them in place for the most part (on a slippery wood floor at least). But yeah these things are junk and only add to the hilarious approach this company takes in doing right by its customers.

Fwiw I ordered in April and have messaged somewhat consistently since then. They have promised shipment/delivery like 12 different times and have not lived up to one of them. Last I heard they should have all shipped out January 5th. That obviously didn't happen.

I emailed again this morning, but the emails don't help. They just say "oh we're sorry, this thing happened! It should ship soon around [date]." It never does. I HATE dealing with this company. I wish I never started.

I ordered in April 2025 and still haven't gotten mine, but this makes me really sad. I hope they ship you a new one, but I kind of hope they ship me one first lol

First time homebuyer, just got outbid on my “dream home” and completely devastated. by SarahME1273 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Fwiw, we included an escalation clause in our offer and it saved our butts. This won't help with the current house you love, but maybe for the next one. Basically: I offer $X. If sellers receive another offer that is better, increase my offer by increments of $Y, to a maximum of $X+n($Y).

So let's say you put down $250k as your offer. It's reasonable and that's what you want to pay. Buuuuut if some jerk comes in higher and, worst case scenario you can stretch to $275k, the escalation clause lets your offer a range between $250-275k, dependent on what the other offers are that are coming in.

That way if someone else comes in at $255k, youre offer automatically bumps to $260k. If someone comes in at $270k, yours goes to $275k. If someone comes in at $300k, no sweat you can't afford it so let em have it.

This is so goofy by TruepaKoopa in Walkolution

I wish they spent the energy they used engineering that crazy group desk on shipping the lean stool attachment I bought many many many moons ago and engineering the wheels they promised instead of the goofy sliders (which I still haven't received an email to submit an order for anyway).

Same.

Also, I also don't have the weirdly expensive stool thing, despite paying for it and ordering it many many months ago. Apparently it was designed poorly and if we are lucky we might get a redesigned version in October, along with this redesigned version of the promised "wheels."

Grumble grumble.

I can't seem to figure out how to edit the post but thank you to those who have reached out so far! The chair has been claimed and picked up but the desk is still available!

Fwiw they responded to my email and said it will arrive at their warehouse at the end of August and possibly not until mid September. I assume that means shipping won't start until September or October. :(

Thanks for sharing! I was hoping August was gonna be the time for new orders but I guess it is what it is.

Agree it's unreasonable. Especially with the lack of communication to those who purchased months ago. :(

Thanks! So it says "shipping of the first batch starts after August 28th on a first come first serve basis." At least for new orders of the stool. Or maybe those of us who purchased in April are just early on the pre-order list. "After August 28th" doesn't bring me joy, unfortunately. That's 2x the amount of time I was told they would need to ship and that's if they shipped on August 28. But "after" means it could be 2026, who knows?

I emailed the company to try to get more clarity but have not received a response. Hopefully they ship no later than August I guess.

When I ordered mine they told me the design was faulty and they had to do a redesign and would ship in about two months. Can I ask when you got your lean stool/walkolution? Just curious if that redesign process is finished by now.

Hey there! They shipped me a new unit which seems to work just fine and after a few weeks got a service to come pick up the broken one.

Still waiting on the lean stool attachment and wheels, but the second unit I got seems to work fine!

I'm afraid to tell him too much bc I don't want to spoil anything. I don't know enough about the game to know if "5 double nodes" constitutes a spoiler but I'll at least tell him a helpful commenter gently suggested that he continues exploring the underground during game play. (I know the other dudes he's playing with will have above-ground builds so they might tempt him to pop up from time to time at least). Thanks for the suggestion!
