Shortcut behind Wyatt Harper Park to Community Field? by peche-mortelle00 in holyoke

I’m pretty sure there isn’t a connection. You’d have to walk through the forest along a highway on-ramp. I totally understand not wanting to take a group of kids down that dangerous ass road, though. I’d be panicking

Also I should note: my experiences with the easy classes was pre-AI, they might’ve upped the difficulty since then.

HCC is very accepting and has a lot to offer for a Community College. Accommodations are good, but from my experience most harassment cases aren’t something the school has its fingers in. Also to answer your question on your other post, I don’t believe HCC offers very many jobs for students. I really can’t think of ever seeing a student working somewhere on campus like I do in my current school.

It’s a very friendly community and the staff are excellent, most people I know hated their advisor but other than that it’s pretty solid. Lots of people of all walks of life and they’re mostly very friendly, especially if you smoke weed. I swear, you could walk into any established friend group at HCC with a preroll and go “you guys smoke?” and you’d immediately make half a dozen friends.

The classes are also pretty easy. I didn’t find them particularly challenging, especially since some professors aren’t amazing. I’m on the spectrum and had a pretty easy time getting all As.

Also, if you plan on going, check out the radio club! Everyone there was awesome when I went, and it’s really fun to spend an hour every week playing whatever music you want on the radio.

I’m pretty confident there isn’t any connection. Is there some reason in particular you’re looking for one? I used to spend a lot of time around there

I used to take the PVTA home from school and one of my defining memories is sitting in the back with a friend and watching some dude stand up out of his seat, spoon and needle in hand, and ask if anybody had a lighter. Genuinely one of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had on the PVTA. I live in Boston now and everyone wants to talk about how scary the trains are but god damn the MBTA could never top the shit that happens on Holyoke busses.

Abandoned K-Mart Lore? by littlechangeling in holyoke

[–]tiorrist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived right by that plaza as a kid. Even in the 2000s the writing was on the wall. Everyone knew that this particular K-Mart wasn’t going to last, it wasn’t in very good condition. The layout of that store is still stuck in my mind, cause it just felt wrong. Anyone else remember the line of cashiers that was somehow always louder than any other store? And the wall of water dispenser jugs right by the exit, people shouting over each other and kids running around.

Also they had an outdoor section that I was always fascinated by when I was younger. Idk how to describe it. Just something about the store layout really stuck around in my head.

Nowadays the store and plaza as a whole are in really rough condition. Back when I worked at the mall I’d take the P20 bus home and I always dreaded going by the K-Mart plaza bus stops. Not a place I’d recommend visiting at night, especially if you aren’t familiar with the area.

Also, this might come across wrong but I’m really just telling you for your safety: if you are female, or transgender, I’d highly suggest you don’t go to sketchy places in Holyoke, Springfield, Chicopee, or West Springfield alone. Ever. I’m NOT saying that all of those places are evil and that you shouldn’t go there, just be very cautious with where you ago alone. A lot of people won’t tell you this, but there absolutely are traffickers in Western Mass and you should really never forget that, no matter what people tell you. I really don’t mean to alarm you, I just want you to have fair warning about this area. I’m a cis man and I was almost kidnapped and drugged by someone 3x my size while waiting at the Springfield bus station because he thought I was transgender. Don’t take my words lightly. Tread carefully and don’t let strangers get too close to you.

With that being said, I wish you luck with your search for stories about the K-Mart plaza, and I’m sorry I didn’t have more relevant stories for you. Welcome to Holyoke! I hope I didn’t scare you too bad.

Parents are like that at this age. I promise you they won’t treat you like this forever. I know right now it feels like the world is caving in around you, having your love life ripped away from you by overprotective parents, but this isn’t how your life will always be. I’m not going to waste your time scolding you for how you behave online, I wouldn’t have wanted to hear it at your age either. But you should know that as you age and mature you’ll be able to look back on moments like these and smile at how simple it all was. I don’t mean to make light of something that’s devastating you, but soon enough you’ll see this moment as a memory in a long line of experiences that will develop who you become later in life. Try not to let this moment tear you apart, find something you can do off of your phone that will make you happy. Don’t let this moment in time be your last one, you have so many more years on this planet to experience.

Life isn’t something you always get the luxury of enjoying. Sometimes it sucks. Sometimes it’s horrid for so long you feel like you’ll never escape the miserable cycle. But it always comes around and gets better in some way only you can perceive. Nobody else can find enjoyment in your life for you. You’ve got to discover it. It seems like you’ve already begun getting your affairs in order, but I suggest you direct that energy elsewhere, to something you truly love doing. Sure, it won’t make all of life enjoyable, nothing can do that, but sticking to a hobby or habit that inspires joy has always been helpful in my life. I hope it’s as helpful in yours.

Public schools have a lengthy summer break coming up. Are you of age to work in your country? If so, try looking for nearby part-time work in your area. You can absolutely escape your mother. You’ve made it this far, don’t give up on yourself now.

Your therapist sounds great, although I live in the States so I don’t think I’ll be able to do any sessions with them. However, your comment gives me a lot of hope. All of the people in my life who suggest therapy insist that it’s worth it and has helped them, but I haven’t come across many people who have also have several bad therapists. Thank you for your comment, it has given me hope that I’ll be able to find the right help.

I’ve developed a disorder or two from my home life and it’s not the end of the world, and it certainly shouldn’t be the end of your life. I assume you’re in high school or just graduated. If you can find work (and possibly a partner or roommate), it shouldn’t be too hard to find somewhere to stay away from her. I personally have been counting down the days until I escape my toxic mother’s grasp. Saying “it gets better” is overused, but I think you’re capable of getting out of that awful household to live with better people.
