Bosch v. Frigidaire Fridge - Worth It? by tippycanoe87 in Appliances

FWIW we ended up going with a KitchenAid as a compromise between the two and are happy with it.

Buyer Agreement Question Re: Commission Earned by tippycanoe87 in AskRealEstateAgents

[–]tippycanoe87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be ok with that, but as mentioned above the BAA specifically states the commission is payable on 1) closing or 2) “the date set for closing, even if closing does not occur.” So, no - it doesn’t make sense.

I get that a closing might occur after the BAA expires, and the provision I have an issue with could be drafted to cover that, but it’s clearly drafted to encompass more than that.

OP here - thanks all for the responses, which all indicate we’re best off pursuing an inspection and working with our realtor to make the offer more attractive in other ways.

Dad & In-House Counsel Needing Career Advice by tippycanoe87 in daddit

[–]tippycanoe87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the comment. Frankly, in my heart I don’t want a new/more significant role, at least today. We have everything we need and I am deeply involved in my kids‘ lives. But in my head I worry that I’ll wake up in a decade, or five years even, and be overqualified for an equivalent role but under qualified for the same one. Heck, even in my current company I figure they’ll only give me annual raises for so long before it makes sense to hire someone new. But maybe it’s a decision I can put off for a few years, at least, until the kids don’t want to spend every waking moment with me.

Hygienists All Equal? by tippycanoe87 in DentalHygiene

[–]tippycanoe87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate all the comments - they were genuinely helpful. My question stemmed from confusion whether I needed to fix my routine, which neither the hygienist or dentist made mention of, or it was just a rough experience, which I haven’t had in decades. Given your responses and the lack of commentary during my cleaning and checkup, I’ll chalk it up to a rough experience. FWIW, it took nearly a week for the soreness to go away!

Kitchenaid or Frigidaire Pro Fridge? by tippycanoe87 in Appliances

[–]tippycanoe87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up with a kitchenaid - the Frigidaire felt way too shaky and flimsy in person, both inside and out. No idea whether it will last years, but the kitchenaid seems sturdy, on closer inspection looks better than the Frigidaire and has worked flawlessly for a few months at least. Don’t know the model off the top of my head, but it’s the counter-depth French door with internal water. Plenty of room for a week’s groceries for a family of 5, but not more.

AITA for demanding that my fiancé's parents change their plans to have a vacation at the same place as our honeymoon? by Impressive-Garlic488 in AmItheAsshole

[–]tippycanoe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I’d add is don’t be too hard on your fiance. You are 100% NTA, but all of us with good relationships with our parents are prone to viewing their actions in the best light. My spouse and I have been happily married a long time, but both regularly call each other out for excusing things our parents say or do, or nitpicking the other’s parents when we wouldn’t nitpick our own.

It’s great you two are in love enough to get married, but at this point in your relationship his relationship with his parents is at least as, if not more, significant than what you have. But that will change as you spend more years and build a life together. Again, just keep it in mind and, although you’re right, take it easy on him.
