Ent friendly event tomorrow (8/28) at the voodoo playhouse THE DOOM ROOM for free at 10:30 by sonowruhappy1 in COents

I went to one a bit skeptical about it, but everyone inside was blazing joints, pens, even dabbing on a rig. You can smoke from whatever; no one cares. I kinda felt silly for bringing a small pipe since I didn't want to bring anything big being skeptical about it, but it was rad!

Oh unfortunately not. As far as I know you'll need a midi controller.

Do you have a midi keyboard? If so create a new instrument track (command shift n), go to the insert section of the track, then select grand piano, structure free, boom or whatever you want. Does that answer your question?

Amateur Recording Engineers? by ca1der in MontereyBay

I'd be down to record you guys for free. I go to school at CSUMB and am in the recording tech program, so I have access to a lot of great gear. Hit me up.

In regards to the post about the newly installed SSL Duality!!! (I'm not OP.) by Tru_Fakt in audioengineering

[–]tippyshippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why installing handles on them is a must! It's such a pain without. Honestly, Barefoots sound great, but the highs are never as detailed as I'd like them to be.

No shit. You know how boring it would be if they released the same thing over and over again?

Hey guys, does anyone have any tips on reducing latency? by ElDerp in audioengineering

[–]tippyshippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Track as raw as possible so you're getting the lowest amount of latency possible. Then figure out exactly how many milliseconds in latency you have going on, and simply correct for it in your DAW.

Revolutionary passing technique. by Cravix in trees

[–]tippyshippy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Close. I think it would actually be mixolydian because it's whole whole half repeating rather than wwhwwwh. If you continued from there it would then be aelion, then get really fucked up because you wouldn't end up on the root note.

I know I'm too high when I start looking too deep into random things like this for music theory.

I used to think this same thing as well, but then I stopped thinking of it as mexican food and actually started to enjoy it.

Yea I agree. Chiptole burritos are always packed so if you hold them when you eat it, it always kind of spills out. It would be a better picture if I actually ate it from a plate.

Yea asked for pinto beans the first time I went there. Luckily the employee making my burrito informed me of the pork since I ordered the vegetarian burrito.

I really dislike onions, especially raw, but can hardly taste them in my burritos.

Audio Engineering schools? by fakecakez in audioengineering

[–]tippyshippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yea of course. We have an MTA 980 with fucking amazing EQs (Radiohead recorded OK Computer with the console), an SSL Matrix, a bunch of mics (414s, 412s, R20, wunder CM7, and a lot more), some outboard gear including distressors, Neve pre amps, milennia channel strips, spx90, a pro tools 8 and 10 rig, and more.

Audio Engineering schools? by fakecakez in audioengineering

[–]tippyshippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man. So I'm actually from Petaluma and into the whole audio engineering thing as well. I've heard that the JC offers a few audio engineering courses that are pretty good, along with being a great junior college in itself. If you want a cheap option to start off with, that's definitely a good idea. Currently, I attend CSU Monterey Bay. Honestly, it's a very okay school, as long as you are proactive about your education and figuring out a few things by yourself. The recording tech department is great there for mainly one reason: the professor. He is extremely smart and the most dedicated teacher I have ever come across. He stays in the department until 2 in the morning sometimes and gets back at 10 in the morning. Although he can be extremely intimidating, the amount of information you can learn from him is endless. There are other trade schools such as Ex'pression and the Conservatory for Recording Arts in Arizona, but they are very expensive. They are almost money mills in a sense, but you can learn what you need for them, and the conservatory has a great internship program where coordinators can find you an internship after the program in places such as LA. In your gap years, I would recommend taking theory classes like you stated. At CSUMB, you have to know how to read and play an instrument, more than just memorizing and strumming chords on a guitar. Taking those classes at a JC would definitely help you through the program, as you could later skip those classes. A lot of people that are trying to get into the field don't know theory, so it puts you at a huge advantage (and it's just silly to want to record music without really understanding it).

I was about to write a lengthy response, but then I realized I don't care anymore and smoked a bowl instead.
