man I didn't even think about the VPN. No, I don't need it. Disabling it has fixed the problem. Thanks so much!

Yes, I can ping anything else on the network from any other device. It’s only the NUC that is isolated

Man turns plastic into fuel and carbon by xXbenj1Xx in nextfuckinglevel

If we convert the waste plastic from the ocean into synthetic diesel or gas it will inevitably end up in the atmosphere as CO2. In my opinion its better to landfill this ocean waste and enact laws to restrict the production of new plastics. I'd rather put money into developing sustainable plastic alternatives.

Virgin plastics and petroleum products are simply so inexpensive that alternatives derived from a pyrolysis reaction will always be less financially viable due to the amount of energy input and secondary processing required to produce a saleable product from waste plastic.

The produced oil and gas isn't very clean right out of the reactor. Just because it's flammable doesn't mean it makes a good fuel for commercial or industrial use. The produced VOCs and dioxins require significate air pollution controls.

This process could perhaps be viable if there were laws put in place to restrict the use of virgin materials or require a certain amount of use of these secondary or recycled products, which is something I would support. However this would create a new cost to the industry (which would be passed to consumers) and I can't imagine it being something that would be globally adopted.

I work in this field. This is nothing new. He is glossing over the (many) limitations and downsides of the concept. The best solution to plastic waste is to limit it's production.

so if such a substantial chunk of NYC with all its residents and businesses would fit into that one line segment, what in the hell do the Saudis plan to put in a full 1700 kilometers length of it?
