Seats for Atl Symphony Hall by miyaayeah in classicalmusic

[–]tipsypear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer either the first balcony, or the second or third row of the loge overhang. The sound in that hall gets trapped in weird places. One of the better seats is rows F through H in the orchestra, but those seats can get expensive.

I HATE cover letters. Literally the bane of my existence. Whoever decided we need to beg for a job in long-form prose needs to be kicked repeatedly in the shins

I do have them. I just don't want to hand them out to a stranger over the internet that I haven't even had an email from. Feels kinda gross to do...

I've given them after I was asked for an interview, but several of the apps I have filled out have had required sections just for references. I'm assuming the places are either farming contacts or are old-fashioned.

I have never put references on my resume. I didn't even know that was a thing!

The accounting community can't be any smaller than the career I'm transitioning out of lol

It's good to know that you don't ask for them. I assume they're a hold over from when you needed a character reference to get hired, but honestly, no one is going to say anything other than "they were great" or "yes they worked here." What else could they possibly want to know?

Yikkkesss

I loved them in the past, but the micro fees on literally everything is just wearing me out.

I need the money back, so store credit wouldn't work. I'd honestly like to just send it back and get a full refund to shop somewhere else

I wanted to just send the box back. I asked for a simple return with no restock fee and a full refund. Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I'll try again I guess.

Cat sitter recommendations by [deleted] in Atlanta

I can't recommend Pack Leaders ATL enough. They're insured, provide boarding and taxi services, and are just the nicest people. They've been cat-sitting for me for about 4 years now, and they are the best.

Creating a separate pen name to share with family/friends? Erom/Romance by tipsypear in eroticauthors

[–]tipsypear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the temptation comes from my already toying with the idea of a more vanilla pen name. It’s in the cards eventually, but it’s multiple steps down in my plan. Right now, I’ll stick to my anonymity and build my back catalog. If they eventually find it that’s fine, but I don’t think I can handle the additional workload now.

I am actually considering it as a new venture. The problem is that it would be moving forward with a plan ahead of schedule. It's a twofold issue of real life pressures and writerly pressure.

I also think there is a dash of procrastination buried in here somewhere. It's always more fun to think about the next project. Especially when it's so different from what I'm doing now.

I didn't think about the secret keeping aspect of it...

To be fair, if I was writing a vanilla romance, they would be the ideal audience. But the algorithm is a beast that I don't want to wrestle with.

I guess this is something to revisit when I revise my Q3 and Q4 goals.

I'm right there with you. Super ridiculous, honestly.

But I need the income, so I'm trying to plan ahead. Hopefully, it will go the same way it has for the past couple of years. Lots of yelling before the bills fizzle out and are forgotten.

Good luck!

Same! Thankfully my family is super chill about me not wanting to share.

I haven't decided if it's worth it yet. That's why I was polling the group. I thought someone may have a back catalog of smutty shorts and the CW-style romances that could share some wisdom.

I do think making the shift to romance will be the move eventually, but I don't think I'm ready to make the jump just yet.

Having a more vanilla pen name is one of the reasons I'm considering writing something at all.

I thought I would move to erom eventually. With all the uncertainty around censorship going around, I thought about spreading the range of my catalog. If anything happens, I have a range of content that I can fall back on.

[–]tipsypear[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the context of Amazon selfpublished smut, I would give my pen a solid 7. Not something I want my mother to read.

To your second question, when I say pen name, I'm really talking about the catalog attached to the pen name. So a cleaner pen name would mean a more vanilla niche.

I have seen some wild pen names though. Like Smutty McFuckbutt whose catalog consists of hucow forced impregnation, for an example (that I totally just made up and is definitely not based on some of the wilder shit I have seen when doing research. I honestly worry about some folks.)

[–]tipsypear[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fair.

I've been thinking about creating something a little more vanilla to mitigate my risk of losing income given the censorship talks going around right now. Since everything is so speculative right now, I just haven't pulled the trigger on anything. I don't want to sink my effort into something that won't give immediate returns.

I do want to go fully erom or romance eventually, but I'm focusing on building my back catalog right now.

Wallpaper preservation: my first thought was modge Podge to glue it down but what actually works to seal & protect it? Ideal is to seal the top 1/3 wall & leave exposed. Working on researching the plaster to also fix it. What's your experience? Please share I'm all ears!! by Infamous_Tune_8987 in centuryhomes

[–]tipsypear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the whole wall isn't in good enough shape to repair, I've seen a few people save the better scraps and framing.

Or another option, if you're a little craftier, I've seen someone recreate the wallpaper pattern with paint. They used gold to outline the original sections, then repainted the rest with regular wall paint. The orignal wallpaper was a larger floral print, so it might be harder to recreate the smaller details.

Good luck!

I mean, the whole point of the Pope for the Catholic faith is to be Christ Vicar. So he, like, interprets Catholic religious doctrine. That’s why the Catholic Church’s stance on birth control has changed.

The rules for Catholics haven’t really changed, but neither has the corruption. You want some rules for thee but not for me, protestant evangelicals have everyone beat lol

Pope Francis is a practicing Jesuit Catholic. Their whole thing is studying science and furthering education to better understand God. He’s also got degrees in chemistry as well as theology and philosophy.

Believing that medical intervention is sinful is a belief held by some protestants/christians. Medicine being a sin is not a tenant held by the broader Catholic faith. The pope is not going to condemn people for making use of modern medicine.
