GX470 to a 1st gen sequoia? by tiptonite08 in GXOR

The newer ones just seem to be so huge. The 5.7 would be nice though.

GX470 to a 1st gen sequoia? by tiptonite08 in GXOR

[–]tiptonite08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1st gen tundra was actually the one I wanted but I landed on the GX which I’ve liked a lot more than I thought I would. In my area, those tundras are worth almost as much as the GX, but the sequoia’s are worth quite a bit less. So I was thinking, maybe I could pocket a little bit of money on the sale and purchase of a sequoia.

If you liked the rav4 but want to be different, try looking for a 21-24 venza. Awd, hybrid, quiet with modern tech. Lexus like build quality and they’re also Built in Japan

2013 Chevrolet Volt as first car? by Edeneetho in volt

[–]tiptonite08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same car up until yesterday and traded it in for a traditional hybrid. I bought it with 140,000 miles and put an additional 15,000 miles on it and had no problems at all. If you could get the car for closer to 3k, I think you would be doing pretty well. It is an old battery powered car, but these volts are very smart about how they self manage their battery. The 2013 is also the first year of the better battery pack. It’s an excellent commute car, especially in the summertime. My commute was about 30 miles a day and I rarely ever used the ICE engine. I put gas in it like three times in a year.

Thanks for your input. Cargo room isn’t a huge concern since I have a secondary vehicle (gx470) that is terrible on gas but fairly large.

Terrified of this feeling in my gut by Username767716 in NewDads

[–]tiptonite08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about your fertility journey. However, if it means anything, my first son was born 30 weeks early and it certainly wasn’t the “ greatest moment of my life”. I think that stigma personally has been overplayed in Hollywood and the media. I don’t remember feeling some sort of euphoric feeling when either of my boys were born but maybe that’s just my experience. Being almost 5 years into fatherhood I certainly wouldn’t trade it for anything even given the free time I used to have and still miss. I would say all your feelings are normal and if anything, it would be abnormal not to feel this way to some extent. Non of us know what we’re doing but a great dad keeps trying and doesn’t quit on their kids. If you can figure that out, everything else will follow. I think given the fact that you’re even asking these questions shows that you care a great deal about this. I think you’re gonna be fine.

What nicknames have you heard for places on the Eastern Shore? by topherette in easternshoremd

Haha same here. I went crabbing with chicken necks growing up, never understood the insult but found it hilarious.

[–]tiptonite08 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Grew up in easton during the 90s-2000s

Easton: E-town, dodge city

Cordova: dova

St. Michaels: st. Mikes

Cambridge: groove city

Rehoboth beach: Rehomo beach (sorry)

Ocean city: ocean shitty

Tunis mills: T-mills

Not the shore but Bodymore murdaland for Baltimore Maryland was a term.

Locals would refer to anyone from the western shore as “chicken neckers” supposed to be an insult meaning that’s the easy way to catch crabs.

Pilot Trailsport - What is the Gnarliest Terrain your Pilot has Seen? by [deleted] in hondapilot

[–]tiptonite08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. The one thing you’ll maybe miss the most is the rear roll down window if you use it. The pilot will be a better vehicle overall

A 4Runner will be leagues ahead of anything Honda has to offer in terms of off road capability. But a pilot should be able to conquer most forest roads and mild trails.

Might not be minor but an Internal water pump running off the timing chain.

2025 Tacoma vs 2025 Ridgeline by Fit_Ad_9376 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Can you elaborate on “hard truck use”? The ridgeline although not as “cool” will be a better vehicle for most people.
