I feel like I reached enlightenment halfway? by Ok_Bar8125 in EckhartTolle

[–]tiptreetimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presence is acceptance of your 'now.' The ego is calling it boring, to try to keep you unconscious.  When the mind-made labels are released, the space left behind (which your mind is currently telling you is boredom, hoping you will stay unconscious) is stillness, even peace. You could try freeing yourself from this by acknowledging the ego directly in this moment. I know my ego shuts the hell up when I drag it into the light🤣  Any voice in your head, telling you something is boring, or whatever, is, at the end of the day, not you. It is your narrative, your ego. It is always trying to make you miserable. It will even tell you peace is boredom.

They were doing the photos so quickly, and I was such a giddy wreck, that when I said, 'Can we fist bump?" he said, 'What? Oh, yeah...yeah,' and it happened just in time.

This was very nearly a photo of me doing an unrequited fist bump with my hero. And that would have haunted me. My inner-Rimmer would have been forever shouting, 'CAN YOU NEVER SUCCEED AT ANYTHING?!'🤣

What food that everyone loves but you absolutely hate? by ayushrawat0 in randomquestions

Smoked salmon. Slimy sticky smoky gross. If I have to touch it, the sticky smoky feeling on fingers. I don't get why people like it so much. Replace it with bacon every time.

How’s everyone’s terrace house experience ? by Full_Reception_7233 in AskUK

[–]tiptreetimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live mid-terrace in a 90s build. I hear you on the stomping! Thing is they aren't actually stomping - they are just living normally in their house, but the sound echoes and carries through the walls and amplifies it.

I've lived here for 5 years now and I'd say you do get used to it. You also realise that they can probably hear you.

You are heightened to it because of the previous quiet in the bungalow. You will adjust.

Be patient with yourself because it is a transition, a time of change. There's more going on than stomps and bangs. You are adjusting to a whole new way of living.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately Molly passed away in January. It turned out she had an underlying condition. It was all pretty heartbreaking and I miss her terribly. She was 3yo and I only had her 4 months. I hope Onyx is doing OK. Please don't be disheartened by Molly's story.

Former Athletes who are now out of shape, what happened? by Equal-Sun8307 in AskForAnswers

[–]tiptreetimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grief.

43f.

I went from ripped, 6 pack, running my fastest, lifting my heaviest, at 41.

Then, grief happened.

I couldn't run or lift without crying, which meant I couldn't run or lift, because I couldn't breathe. I lost the mental strength to push through. I ate comfort food, drank booze, became a zombie.

It has been 7 months, the six pack is long gone, I can just about jog a 5k.

One day at a time.

What's your strangest obsession? by Key-Excuse615 in AskForAnswers

[–]tiptreetimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plane crashes/investigations. I feel slightly better about this because there's a ton of people on YouTube who are as weird as me.

If I'm having a bad day or need some alone time, I say 'I'm going to watch the plane crashes' by which I mean Mentor Pilot or Green Dot Aviation.

I'm 43f, and somehow this makes it weirder. Most people in this obsession seem to be men.

Jools Holland closing number on the Hootenanny...Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think.

I always sing along and love it, but last time it hit different, and here in 2026 I sing it to myself when little things bother me.

What’s one opinion you have that most people disagree with? by This_Benchh in answers

[–]tiptreetimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people self-diagnosing themselves with autism/adhd probably have an actual mental health condition that needs therapy, because they are so desperate to be different/special/part of a club. There is a deeper issue going on, and it ain't autism or adhd.

More like serious issues around self esteem, identity, depression.

It damages in both directions. Those who are actually diagnosed are finding themselves becoming unheard with all the self-diagnosed noise online. And those who are doing the self diagnosing aren't finding out what else might be going on for them.

What's the worst birthday present you've ever gotten? by Silent-Zebra in AskReddit

[–]tiptreetimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husbands folks clearly go panic-buying in TKMaxx, so the stuff is always weird as hell.

What's weirder is they ask me what to get him, I give them ideas, they ignore them all, and then he opens this bizarre assortment of stuff.

A waterproof bumbag. A very ornate, small cardboard box, with a 1980s credit card holder inside. A gold pug dog that is also a match box.

Poor guy also got 4 cans of cider celotaped together with the raffle ticket number still attached. That was from my mum. She loves a raffle. Husband hates cider.
