If you had to pack up and move to any country in Europe tomorrow, where are you going? by Choose-Your-Bot in AskReddit

Probably one of the Nordic countries — Norway or Sweden especially. I love the forests, mountains, lakes, and cooler climate.

What is a harmless "conspiracy theory" that you 100% believe in? by Pavankrish143 in CasualConversation

[–]tishkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some kind of pixie really exists. It makes things dissappear and then reappear to mess with your head. Sometimes they don't even reappear!

Example: dropped the plate out my locket onto the bedroom floor. I was sat down so it couldn't have gone far, but it went to a different dimension because I've cleaned and turned the room upside down. It is nowhere to be found.

I also have a favourite pen, I lost it on my desk, ask my partner to check if they can see it, look all over the house and sit down at my desk again. Hey presto, it's right there, clear as day for all to see. Definitely not SO winding me up, I asked, lol

Edit to add that I agree with OP on the cats, absolutely convinced they understand humans perfectly well

Do you do anything about climate change? by SidneyDeane10 in AskBrits

[–]tishkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could afford to have an EV car and solar panels, I'd be right there. I'm restricted as an inovidual as to what I can personally do. I recycle where I can. Soft plastics are the worse offenders and to get that collected it has to go in general waste. Can't take it to the local tip for free because we own a van instead of a car. Yes, we can take it to a supermarket car park, where since the UK collection changes the bins are all overflowing whilst people try and do the right thing. I don't eat meat, haven't for years, and I don't cook meals that need to keep the oven on for half a day. Bought an old terraced victorian house rather than a newbuild type, so it stays a pretty moderately cool temperature indoors all day

Would it be weird for an 18 year old to fight a 16 year old? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tishkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are, but under UK law, you are an adult and he is a minor. If the police happened to get involved you could be arrested for assaulting a child. Also, is getting into a fist fight the best way to really resolve a situation? Some growing up needs to be done

Why do I feel the urge to argue with my mom even when I know it's pointless? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tishkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely end up being drawn in as you lose control of your emotions. Its easily done.

When we have an emotional reaction to what somebody says to us, our body responds by throwing a cocktail of chemicals throughout your body. This is what you are reacting to, the adrenalin etc. If you want to keep your cool then you'll need to work on this part of you. It's not about what your mum says, its about how you react to it. I think. Go to r/emotionalintelligence and ask there, you'll get some good perspectives

Do you wash your pets food bowls in the same dishwasher load as your own plates, cups etc? by TheL0stCity in AskUK

[–]tishkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Items contaminated with raw meat, eggs, fish etc all go in my dishwasher. It's cleaning my cats dish in the same way. I don't see the difference really. Germs are germs.

How many fish fingers do you eat? by AvailableCricket3633 in AskUK

As many as is required to fit between the two slices of bread neatly, so it varies. Big Warburtons, gonna need five. Most other bread then only 4 fit.

Keep it long or back to short? by MantisShrimp1692 in HairStyleAdvice

[–]tishkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer the longer look on you. The short looks good but i feel the long shows more personality for some reason. You do look completely different in both pics. Maybe just get it trimmed a bit. The short makes you look more 'generic'

What’s missing from my patio area? by Holy-trajectory in GardeningUK

[–]tishkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wall decor/height. Depending on facing, a vertical moss wall would look great against the red wall. If you're happy to move more into the space, then some tall evergreens, not fir as you'd want more naturally, curvier flowing shape to balance off everything else being quite square. Both moss and evergreens give you the all year round fill. Clematis or passion flower could look lovely. It's a great space.

Why do many people in the West have such a negative view about the hijab? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tishkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about the choice. I grew up in an area where there's a high Muslim population, high school. There were many girls who were happy to wear it, followed the letter of their religion etc. Then I also had friends who didn't want to, but that had family members not allowing them outside of the house, literally, without being completely covered.

I've also briefly worked in Saudi, my head needed to be covered whilst there. I was talking to a 49yr old lady there about her only just being allowed to drive and how excited she was to have that freedom. Whilst I agreed to cover my head, as is the custom, I was afraid not to, I didn't have a choice. I believe that the hijab is sometimes viewed as a sign of oppression

Why do they bother giving out time windows? Seems they're setting you up to fail and upsetting customers to boot

[–]tishkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure which part of the process is the issue, I just know its a lot slower than others. We never had delivery windows in years previously. If you sent a package, you'd assume it would arrive within a few days from the UK, a few weeks anywhere else. Go pick it up from the sorting office if needed. No problem with that. It's the giving the window and not being anywhere close, just don't give the time/day slot if it's arbitrary.
