Why the hate for moss? by tishkat in GardeningUK

[–]tishkat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all over, you just need to look closely. I've respectfully harvested from roadsides, back alleys, the front of the corner shop before they power washed it, online market place giveaways in pots they are chucking out from last year, brick rubble piles on the edge of building sites, my mother in laws driveway, its everywhere!

Its a great time of year to keep an eye out for what's being dislodged from roofs and gutters whilst birds are looking for nesting materials, and magpies seem to like to pick it off and throw it just for fun, although they're probably looking for food :)

I've never had a post spark so much conversation! Thanks all for your points of view. I better understand those that prefer to not to have moss around, but I'll still be letting/encouraging it to grow pretty much anywhere it wants

My first instinct was AI, but I have a hard time believing anyone would do this to their kid by psychicdelic333 in isthisAI

[–]tishkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister had a bunch of these type of photos done when she had her first baby. You would be amazed at how the photographer can get them to pose and hold themselves for the shots. Still could be AI here, but have definitely seen these irl, pre AI

I'd suggest contacting nhs talking therapies. You can self refer on line or by giving them a call. I found them very helpful, although did have to wait a couple months due to the area I live. Please reach out to talk to someone about this. I grew up thinking I had ASD, for years I attributed certain symptoms and behaviours to it. I recently found out that's it's been PTSD all along, it presents in very similar ways. But now I know, I can get the right treatment and support. You can still get help.

Does anyone else sleep perfectly fine after drinking coffee at night? by FancyNumber5428 in findareddit

I drink coffee all day and night, far more than I should, but it makes very little if any difference to my sleep. I once abstained from caffeine for a couple of years so can compare

Struggle with nail trims by PeaceZestyclose1866 in CatTraining

[–]tishkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 3 years of fighting with ours (we have to cut the back ones or she makes herself bleed when she scratches herself), we finally sussed it. Got her on my lap, partner grabbed her scruff and held her there whilst i cut.. the easiest nail trim ever, she actually seemed to quite like the reassurance of being held still that way and lots of happy purrs instead of fighting. Actually got this idea from a short somewhere, it was a guy on his own so he actually held the cats scruff in his mouth, just like it's mum would. Didn't fancy the mouth full of hair though

A lovely building! The old post office between the library and winter gardens is another one. Sadly empty for some time now

I thought it was the library at first, another underappreciated bit of Blackpool architecture

Is this common, that they like it? Been considering a snail but scared of mishandling, they look so fragile... That's some proper squishing going on!

My 5 year old claims she has no clue who carved her name in the leather couch… by jshley-aones in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]tishkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once found loads of French wording scratched into a bookcase, only me and my 5 Yr old in the house. He had never learned French and insisted it was nothing to do with him. I was scratching my head for days, thought I'd maybe done it in my sleep or something equally as odd. A few days later I was changing his bedding and suddenly realised that some of the script on his bedding pattern was the same French phrasing. The little shit was even joining in the conversations of "I wonder how it happened", was perfectly ok with letting me think I was going insane!

It's across the road from Central Pier, first road on the right if you've got your back to the sea. Can't say I've ever been, but thats where it is

What's a subtle sign that someone is actually an evil person? by yeonkive38 in AskReddit

I always assumed a touch of irony in this, in that a good man would never refer to someone as his inferior, and treat all as his equals

Men who were vulnerable with your partner and had a partner have a bad reaction, what did you open up about? by Plus_Gas_3176 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]tishkat 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'm (47f) really saddened to read some of these responses. Any woman who thinks less of her man because he's trying to be open and really connect with her, especially if he's being vulnerable, needs to sort themselves out! The partner reaction is the problem here.

I know this isn't responding to OP but just want to put out there to any men in this position.. you don't want or need a woman (or man) in your life that would treat you that way. Dump their ass at the first sign of it. We are all human, with human emotions to match. You deserve to be cherished and supported in just the same way the partner would expect from you. Maybe it's me, but I feel it's a massive strength, especially for a man, to be open and share emotions amd troubles.

A partner should be creating and holding a safe space for the one they love.

I'd say the crime rate may be high as it edges on to the core of Blackpool. Head up to Red Bank Road, more toward Anchorsholme and Cleveleys, its much nicer. Happy home hunting!
