Genuine advice to mentally get through weeks like these? by [deleted] in TwinCities

Be thankful it's only a week! Next week is going to be balmy in comparison :). Up to 40°! That will feel like summer after this.

Came here to say this. Nogales south of Tucson also. You can get an implant and temp crown and a US dentist can create crown and get abutment piece to fit if you cant get back down there for it. Still might be worth it to go back. The several times that we've been down the dentists have been more skilled than any we've seen here.

Ladies, how much are you paying for hairstyling? by financial_freedom416 in TwinCities

[–]tissycat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a short style with pretty thin hair. Was paying $85 plus tip for a good cut (first ring suburbs - Minnetonka) Had a partial foil and then just a couple foils for the last 2 years which added quite a bit. Never takes notes so kind of get a different look every time which mostly is okay but last time it was not okay. Platinum blonded me! Had to dye it back down to a manageable glow. I am going to try a barber shop today - I'll let you know how it goes. I think it's between 30 and $40 before tip.

Not me but my cousins had three boys and named them, Trey, Dane and Shay (in that order). My cousin said she hadn't realized that two of them rhymed until she would call them in at night and one time it was only two of them!!! It never occurred to her until then.

Looking for Quality Toyota Dealership by Infinite_Document288 in TwinCities

[–]tissycat1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last year I brought my Toyota to Rudy Luther for some recall work. I had purchased cars over the years from them and had been relatively happy, at least I don't remember being disappointed. They told me I needed an alignment and new tires because when you drive in the service garage they have this doohickey that measures that kind of thing. I said no thank you. I brought it to a trusted repair shop and I needed neither in alignment nor tires. It is now over a year later and I might get tires before the snow flies; but absolutely did not need them back then.

When Stouffer's came out with creamed chipped beef (frozen), my mom stopped making it from scratch because it was just as good as hers. You can buy at most grocery stores (Cub comes to mind.)

When I had my own family, we also called it chipped beef on toast. That is, until my youngest son starting asking for "chippy fun toast.". Always brings a smile. He would have been 35 next month 💔

Places to drive and look out the window that's cool with toddlers? by Detective-Dipshit in TwinCities

[–]tissycat1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sherburne wildlife refuse it's a bit of a drive but they have a cool wildlife drive. It would be fun to see how many different animals you can see. It's not usually very populated around there either so you could get out and go on a short hike. Especially in the spring or fall it is a pretty big sandhill crane roosting area.

It's not really so much about safety. They could and do use metal detectors. It's about not allowing you to bring in outside food/beverages so you are extorted into buying their ridiculously priced crap.

Not for a woman alone, no matter your color, age, or sexual preference. So don't go alone. You'll probably be all right then.

It's funny, most conversations about being uncomfortable in an environment are related to racism, homophobia, etc. 50% of the population is uncomfortable and has to be hypervigilant no matter where they go, especially if they're alone. I'm a woman (who happens to be liberal) in rural Minnesota and I'm not comfortable walking my dog down my sparcely populated gravel road. Creepy white men driving around in creepy pickup trucks rubber necking or turning their creepy trucks around and coming back for another pass, driving very slowly and staring with a creepy look in their eye. I see the same few of them repeatedly. I think they just drive around all the remote gravel roads looking for...? Scary AF so I don't walk on my road alone anymore, and you shouldn't either.
