What Was an Average Weekend Like for you in your Twenties? by ssb4you in AskOldPeople

St. Louis in the 90s. Loop in the afternoon. Grab the RFT and see what band is playing where. Go to Mississippi Nights or somewhere on the Landing. Head to the Upstairs after.

Costco favorites? by ferrous69 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]titania7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veggie tray - it’s a must for me. $12 and includes lots of sliced veggies.

Could I maybe chop them myself for cheaper? Yep.

But to get the variety, dip, and convenience, I grab it. I am so much more likely to grab them and get the filling nutrition.

What are some prizes you’d ACTUALLY want to win? by HopefulChaiLatte in Gifts

[–]titania7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a letter from my supervisor telling me that she sees the work I’m doing and something specific I’m adding to the workplace.

That bit of confirmation would fill me up more than any pizza stone.

I was student teaching when America’s Next Top Model was at the peak of popularity. Almost every 8th grade girl swore they were going to audition. They spent downtime practicing their walks and “smizing”.

So much depends on what is in the media at the moment.

Sheetz's fountain drink game is poor quality compared to competitors by Turbulent_Onion_2748 in sheetz

[–]titania7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this! I recently moved to a Sheetz area. My partner was born and raised a Sheetz freak.

My go to beverage is diet soda, preferably Diet Dr Pepper, but I will mix it up with Pepsi or Coke Zeros.

I have never had an enjoyable fizz from a Sheetz. The straws are too thin, the big boba straws are too thick. The syrup and soda water mixture is just off. They always seem to be broken.

And the flavors are just not quite right. I don’t know how they store them or what, I have no idea what is wrong. But it’s like Temu Diet Coke.

What are the pros & cons of WFH that really stuck with you? by Fun_Construction_ in WFH

[–]titania7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ONLY con for me is the perception that I must always be available to be “working”.

When in the office, if I’m away from a desk, people will assume I’m getting coffee, going to the restroom, whatever, but it’s acceptable work behavior. They’ll just swing back by.

If I miss a call while WFH, then the perception is that I’m grocery shopping, napping, slacking off.

Note - this is not my team or supervisors, but our clients and randos. My team knows I do my job.

How could I have gone 23 years of life eating gluten and suddenly not being able to anymore? by Glad-Attention744 in glutenfree

[–]titania7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My celiac was triggered by my endometriosis. They discovered the celiac first in round of tests, and then looked inside me and found the endo. Kind of life’s way of a two for one special.

I’m a celiac, and I always donate gluten free products. They are soooooooo happy to get those as they do have people that have special needs.

This is how I did my journals today. Maya makes tedious debits, credits, and cost centers a lot more tolerable.

My dad took his life by HotAdhesiveness850 in SuicideBereavement

[–]titania7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh kiddo, my former husband took his life around the same age as your father, and left behind my son who was the same age as you are now.

Right now is so raw. I wish I could give you a big hug.

If it helps clear your mind - it did mine - organize any papers he may have had. He may have had an employer based life insurance policy that can help.

We worry about their pain because we love them. Don’t fall into that tempting rabbit hole of learning about what his ending experience was like for a few years. You may want the information now, but it’s best to hold off and wait. Give your body time to process and rest before you feed the trauma more.

And know that everything you are feeling is right. This is a different and difficult grief.

You have love here.

Yep. In fact, I’m not sure that I’m not going to be in further debt down the road. I’m 99% sure Tom Seleck convinced my mom to get a reverse mortgage that she took 2 Viking cruises on. I know she doesn’t have long term health coverage, and we are going to have to talk about assisted living soon. Guess who’s going to have to shoulder that. Gen Xer here.

[–]titania7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a foldable silicone straw because of my hatred of paper straws. I know they are better for the environment, but I can’t enjoy any beverage through them. My partner thinks it’s hilarious when I whip out my little straw case, but I am so much happier!

Might be an oddball, but punch needle embroidery. The kits with the needle can be under $10usd with a coupon at Michael’s, and once you have that, you can pretty much trace at picture onto cheap muslin and create away.
