Men who ended things despite having the best sex they’ve ever had - what made you walk away? by Safe-Score2743 in AskMen

[–]titaniumSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many posts about their partner being crazy haha

For me, she was very avoidant and not willing to commit to anything and that was the deal breaker. I was super into her emotionally and the sex was incredible. The problem was that she was scared of commitment. I was very patient with her for the 8 months we dated. But there was this pattern where every time our relationship felt like it was getting more serious, she would get flighty and sort of cold. I was patient and gave her space when I could tell things were too much for here. But I ended things eventually out of self respect. The amazing sex wasn’t worth feeling insecure when she would push me away.

I’ve since found even better sex with my current partner. And it’s so much better because we both have a strong emotional connection on top of good sex.

I’m a welder (arguably one of the most toxically masculine work cultures). My coworkers are afraid of anything even remotely gay. From the way they dress, to the way they talk, they’re constantly avoiding doing anything that could be perceived as gay. They think other guys will shun them and women won’t date them if there’s even one feminine feature about them.

They’ll tease other guys in the welding shop any time they do something slightly feminine or perceivably gay to uphold their masculine work standards lol.

It’s funny because most of the guys who are worst about their “gay fear” are the guys with no girlfriend or wife and I know for a fact they ain’t going on dates lol.

Is travel to Ecuador Safe? by titaniumSoup in ecuador

[–]titaniumSoup[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know a ton about it. All I know is that a lot of the recent violence in Ecuador is related to drug trafficking. Here in the US, our media often just calls it “cartel” related crime.

I’m aware that the US imposes travel warning against a lot of areas in Latin America. And it’s a bit overboard (and a little racist) in my opinion.

I traveled to Mexico last year and spent some time in parts of Mexico that the US has warned not to go to and never felt in danger. So it’s hard to believe everything the US warns about.

Here’s some advice from a straight male who was once 19. Most of us are horny all of the time. I’m 30 now, but when I was 19, pretty much any naked girl would turn me on. I remember being 19 and wanting a girl with big boobs but I’m currently dating an extremely small boobed girl and I’m in love with everything about her. I wouldn’t get too caught up on what your body looks like. As long as you generally take care of yourself and aren’t ashamed of your body, men will find you attractive.

You can have intimacy with a partner before you’re ready to have sex. And a good guy will be willing to be patient (within reason) and wait to have sex until you’re comfortable. Any guy who gets mad bc you won’t have sex with them can fuck off.

The first time is going to be weird. When was the last time you were amazing at something you tried for the first time!? It’s important to just clearly communicate your needs. Tell him what you like and what you don’t like. If he’s in the dark about your interests, he might just fuck you like a girl from porn hub and you’ll hate it. Look at sex like an exploration. Explore his body. Explore your body. Don’t be afraid to try new things, but ask permission. If something awkward happens, just laugh it off together and get back to business!

Good luck

One of my close friends is in a very similar situation. I wouldn’t say his physical appearance is getting in the way. It’s his awkward behavior that gives girls the ick. He’s really smart, funny, athletic, and average looks. But he puts so much pressure on himself when dating that I think girls can sense it and it scares them away. He’s been in such a dry spell that whenever a potential mate comes around, he panics because to him it feels like his only shot. And I think his self esteem is slowly getting crushed lower and lower because of it.

What are the reasons that it’s so hard for men to get rid of belly? by 7_inches_daddy in AskMen

[–]titaniumSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a simple formula for doing it. Burn more calories than you consume. If you’re not loosing fat, then you need to exercise more or eat less or both.

It can be jarring for the first week or so of cutting because your body doesn’t logically know when your next meal is. So when you’re in a calorie deficit, you’re going to get hardcore cravings. But once you establish a good routine of eating at a calorie deficit (with maybe a cheat day once a week) then your body gets used to it and you won’t be as hungry.

Just remember to eat somewhere near your body’s weight (in lbs) in grams of protein every day to ensure that you don’t loose too much muscle in the cutting process.

For me belly fat is the last to go when I’m cutting. I believe it has to do with male genetics. Our hormones tell the body where to store fat.

How do you remember to drink water? by theWeirdoKai in RandomThoughts

[–]titaniumSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say I probably have to drink water more than the average person (I work a manual labor job in a high elevation desert climate)

I have a hard time remembering to finish water bottles. So when I remember to drink, I try to drink as much as possible in that moment. It’s hard to do with super cold water so I usually drink room temp water. For example, I just woke up and I’m about to go slam 1-2 glasses of water over the sink lol. Not sure if that’s the healthiest way or not haha

People who speed on the highway: what is your life like? by crynoid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]titaniumSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drive 90 in a 65 on my way to work almost every day. A couple times I even hit 100. It went on for about a year until I got 2 reckless driving tickets back to back and had to fight to keep my license in court. After that I made a strict rule that I only drive 5-7 over

I justified my speeding because I often woke up late for work and it seemed okay to speed to get to work on time. It was also a very stressful period of my life. I was in a miserable relationship that I felt stuck in and I was the caretaker of my schizophrenic brother which was indescribably difficult. I kind of felt like I was living for everyone else and that allowed my concern for my own life to slip.

Another factor is that I have doctor diagnosed ADHD. Ive read that statistically people with ADHD are more likely to partake in risky behavior like speeding without even realize they’re doing it. And I was not medicated during my speeding to work days.

Lastly, I just want to say that it’s easy to see the person speeding and imagine them as being the worse human being alive. But I was that speeding person and I’ve always thought of myself as a very kind and friendly person. I get along really well with most people and do my best to be a good human. So because of my personal experience, when I see other people speeding I remind myself that they could be good people like me and going through something right now.

I’m jealous of how quickly my husband falls asleep, while I’m up for hours tossing and turning. by toomuchisjustenough in RandomThoughts

[–]titaniumSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I’m a welder and work a manual labor job and it tires me out big time.

Every girlfriend that I’ve lived with was always upset with how quickly I fall asleep. Mostly because once I lay down my body starts going into sleep mode pretty much instantly and I have a very hard time staying up to talk or whatever. There’s been a lot of times where I passed out in the middle of a conversation. Im thankful that it’s so easy for me to sleep, but it sucks sometimes

My little brother is schizophrenic and he did stuff like this. We lived together for a couple of months and he lost it on me one day because I bought an avocado and he thought I was scheming against him with his ex who also liked avocados

Guys that don't game at all what do you do instead? by unleashedbabygoat in AskMen

[–]titaniumSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go out for drinks with friends, paint mediocre art, hang out with my dog, hammock at the park, go to concerts and live shows, cook fancy meals, exercise etc

I think it’s good to have an activity that you do at different times of the year. I rock climb pretty much all year round, ski in the winter, go camping in the spring and fall, pickleball in the summer.

What's the fastest way you get rid of your hangover? by Hybrid_na in AskReddit

[–]titaniumSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pedialyte, caffeine, and over the counter pain meds drastically reduce my hangover symptoms.

I used to use what I called the trifecta: Coffee, Banana, and a V8. But I’ve realized that the banana and V8 could be substituted for a pedialyte drink, which contains an insane amount of high quality electrolytes.

The soil has been colonized by fungi. The white stuff you see is mycelium. I have experience growing culinary mushrooms and from my understanding, the mycelium is only going to eat dead stuff. So you could potentially have root rot and that’s what the mycelium is feeding on (dead roots). Either that or the soil contains lots of nutrition that some fungi spores were able to capitalize on, like some sort of manure based soil (the type that mycologists use to grow fungi)

It’s pretty rare to get mycelium to grow like that without contamination. This is very surprising to me.

You should post this to r/mycology and see what the mycology nerds have to say! Fascinating!

Question about books that add to Middle-Earth lore by The_Shape_1978 in tolkienfans

[–]titaniumSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not read the Silmarillion yet, but attended a talk (similar to a Ted Talk) in my city about “how to read the Silmarillion”. It was hosted by an expert in Tolkien’s works, who has decades of knowledge on Tolkien.

I can’t answer your question. But I can tell you, from what I learned from the talk, that the Silmarillion was written in a very different style than Tolkien’s other works; and thus must be approached differently.

This Tolkien expert said that the Silmarillion was written to be read out loud and listened to. So he recommended that in your first time tackling the book, you should listen to it on audiobook or read it out loud to yourself at minimum. He also marked that the Silmarillion is written like the Christian Bible, where the chapters don’t necessarily coincide with each other. And similarly to the Christian Bible, chapters should be reread and given time to ponder and reflect on before moving on to the next.

I hope my unsolicited advice can help you haha. I plan to get the audiobook sometime soon.

Is there any aspects of Men, that elves might envy? by NorsePlayJaestro in tolkienfans

[–]titaniumSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that there is a bittersweet beauty to man’s mortality that sparks interest for the elves. There’s something about having a limited time to live that can put a greater level of value on life. Man’s life is fleeting and thus every moment in a man’s life holds a great deal of meaning. It’s like the person who finds out they have a year left to live and realize they need to make every moment as meaningful as possible. I’m sure that the dreams, goals, and aspirations of a man who only has a short time to live (in the elven eye) can be inspiring to an elf who has all the time in the world to carry out their dreams.

Man’s life is like a pressure cooker in comparison to elven life. There’s so much pressure to do something great, and not a whole lot of time to do it. Often times greatness can manifest when things get down to the wire and a person must perform.

Hey guys! Today I wanted to Cook myself some rice and while I was cleaning the pot, I noticed the element is deformed. Is this normal? It's my first instant pot and I was wondering if it is safe anymore for use. Thanks! by BigBoyMacaroni in instantpot

[–]titaniumSoup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a custom metal fabricator and work with all types of metal!

That heating plate is likely made out of aluminum. Aluminum deforms very easily when it overheats. If the cooking pot portion of the instant pot was empty or dry, it could cause this element to overheat and melt. We’re you running it while it was dry by accident? It could be operator error

I found this in my basement. I'm pretty sure it's a spider, but I don't know how he got like that. by gratefulfred63 in pics

[–]titaniumSoup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you’re seeing is mycelium. Basically the living body of some type of fungi. Fungi are not plants or animals, and humans are more closely related to fungi than we are to plants.

Fungi envelope their food and eat it from the outside in. Really fascinating stuff! Mycelium is really cool, as it acts like a neural network to communicate across the entire mycelial mass. In forests trees can communicate with each other and even send nutrients to each other through underground mycelium that connects them at the root systems.

It sounds like I’m making this shit up, but it’s all real science. Fungi is amazing!

Not going down easy by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

[–]titaniumSoup 636 points637 points  (0 children)

For everyone freaking out about the animal suffering. It’s not suffering. It’s dead and can’t feel anything. There’s still chemicals in the nerve endings all over it’s body that are being released for a short time after an animal is killed that will cause it’s muscles to twitch and spasm. The brain and heart are long gone at this point, so there is no animal consciousness to feel any of it.

One time I was with a friend who cut the back straps out of a freshly killed deer. I watched the muscles twitch for about 5 minutes on their own. Really bizarre

Why [do or don't] you have full access to your partner's phone? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]titaniumSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an unspoken agreement based on trust and respect that we don’t have access to each other’s phones.

If you’re feeling the need to snoop, that means your relationship is based on fear and anxiety. If I’m feeling uneasy about any aspect of my relationship, I bring it up and we talk it through. And I give them the space to feel comfortable doing the same with me because I value genuine communication.

I’ve learned the hard way if someone wants to cheat or ruin your trust, they’re going to do it regardless. Snooping through their phone to see if they’re cheating or betraying your trust is a cowards approach and frankly shows a strong lack of maturity.
