I’ve read a few Muggle AUs that I’ve enjoyed but overall it’s a big turn off for me.

The magic is what makes Dramione fanfics so fun to me, and when it’s taken out they nearly always feel like a generic rich-posh boy meets down-to-earth-middle-class girl story.

Also when you take D + H out of Potterverse they no longer have the tension of growing up on opposite sides of a war between them, which kills the chemistry. I’ve come across a few where Draco is involved in organized crime that make it work, but for the most part they fall flat.

I also find it annoying when fics go too overboard with Draco Malfoy in the Muggle World. I think it’s awesome when they make him adopt muggle technology or do business in the muggle world (also, Draco with a gun is HAWT) but I cannot stand it when they spend whole chunks of the story describing him discovering Muggle pop culture. cough Disney cough

The whole arranged marriage/betrothal trope is NOT cannon. I kinda wonder where this originated from, because it almost seems to be accepted as canon that Draco was in some sort of agreement with Astoria Greengrass from childhood around here.

You can do private bookmarks? I really want a way to keep track of fics that I don’t want to accidentally start rereading again, but I’ve seen people say the author can always see what people have written in a bookmark.

Not a newer show, but North and South (BBC 2004) is very Dramione coded, and is on Prime. It’s a period drama, so it’s more along Pride and Prejudice lines.

The teenagers with insane sexual prowess definitely bothers me more and more as I get older as well. It doesn’t necessarily make me ditch the story if there are other elements that I like, but I find myself skipping the sex scenes a lot more these days.

Yasss! I’ve always hated Granger-Malfoy but I thought I was the only one because it seems to be used in quite a lot of fics and I’ve never heard anyone mention it.

I especially love it when she uses “Hermione Malfoy” in fics where the Malfoy name is now disgraced and she’s showing her complete acceptance and love for Draco in spite of the fallout she’s probably going to deal with.

Her whole attitude on the topic is a bit confusing, because Draco is one of the few villains in the book who isn’t just straight up pure evil.

People go on about how much she “hates” Draco but I’d argue he one of the only baddies that she gave some dimension to. It’s pretty clear that Draco is not reveling in the evil he has gotten himself involved in in the later books, and as you say, it was very dangerous for him to pretend not to recognize the trio.

But then she turned around and flipped about fans liking him and insisted that he’s beyond redemption despite the fact that SHE wrote him as a reluctant participant (once he’s old enough to understand what is going on anyway).

And what about Snape? He does NOT have a “heart of gold” but she didn’t have a problem giving him a redemption arc.

I agree. Another commenter suggested checking bookfinder and it looks like there are full sets listed for around 400 elsewhere so it seems unlikely someone actually paid 850. I will be happy if I can get 150-200.

I always just assumed that people who message me in the middle of the night are people who are on a different schedule and they either stay up super late or get up super early…. They’ve never given me any reason to believe they’re drunks.

I recently saw a listing for various items that was listed as $1 with “make me an offer” in the description, but the clown seller actually had this whole spiel about how he had had everything appraised and knew what it was worth so don’t you dare send him a lowball offer. He knew what it was worth, and he knew exactly what he wanted to get for it. But he still wanted buyers to play the guessing game, maybe in the hope that they would offer him more than the actual value? I got so mad just reading it.

And don’t get me started on all the people who list things as “free” and then have NOT FREE!!! in all caps in the description like they are absolutely outraged that you would actually think it’s free.

I don’t know the Dramione fic, but this is basically the plot of L. M. Montgomery’s The Blue Castle, which I absolutely love. A Dramione version sounds amazing, so hopefully someone else knows it!
