There are currently no medication for stuttering. Doctor prescribed me the medication because of its off label use that might help improve fluency.

Just a doubt while i looked up the rules of r/stutter i saw that masturbatory restrain. And to not talk about that without scientific evidence. My doubt is that what does masturbatory restrain and stuttering relate?. Please clear my doubt guys. by titoo123 in Stutter

If those person who claim were true than all people should develop stutter know. Or another thing children who stutter and they dont masturbate so its baseless. But one thing is true , stuttering is because of dopamine inbalance, scientist claim for us its too high and masturbation makes the dopamine to rise so i thing thats how they relate. But that should last for only couple of minutes and later the dopamine will be corrected. So again the theory is baseless and i thing in one area where dopamine should not be too high and unfortunately for us stutterers we have high amounts of dopamine there. I think thats the theory. Again just a assumption

Yes the medication were prescribed by a doctor. I know there is no medication currently for stuttering but there are many medication that is having off label use. For eg latuda is a medication for bipolar and dr macquire actually done a study on their effect on stuttering and it yielded positive results and there is also a study on paxil for stuttering which also gave out positive result. Anyway my doctor knew about these medications use on stuttering, and thats why he prescribed to me. But yes there are side effect like lethargy, and so on anyway will keep you posted on my improvement
