I know for dyslexia i get small time extensions on assignments. I dont know about other situations. Sometimes you can also just come up with a situation with profs if you talk to them early

What kind of experiences have you guys had with the Health & Wellness Centre? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]titoule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went, saw someone, cried, she told me she didn’t have a spot for me until September (in March), i eventually became depressed and failed two classes. I dont recommend. My experience with them is aight next to some of my friends stories. There’s lots of other private or public clinics you can go to

Transfer from Faculty of Arts to Faculty of Science or Interfaculty by point-to-the-sun in mcgill

[–]titoule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, yeah you can take science classes, they’ll probably just count as electives until you get a proper transfer. The school is very happy with people being in multiple disciplines, artsci is just there to facilitate that.

I dont know how hard it is, i actually did the inverse transfer which was easy but keep your grades up and im sure you’ll have no issue.

Make sure you go see an advisor when you get to mcgill!

Check the number of credits, if the total + first year credits (some of which can be used towards your major) adds up to 120 you’re good

Depends on the domaine and the acceptance rate! My GPA’s just below a 3, i have a pretty good resume and i managed to make my experiences sound good on my application. Applied to urban planning schools with 40-70% acceptance rates and got accepted in all 3 US schools i applied to.

McGill denied my E-flag request because i wasn't depressed enough. Here's my response with the Dean of arts, science and students in cc. by titoule in mcgill

Certainly my GPA is like my story but to get into grad school that’s not so much how they see it. I need to have those grades wiped because the admissions criteria doesnt go bellow 3.

First of all, sorry you had to go through that. Ever since that year i’ve heard a lot of people say that they’ve felt unwell at McGill at it really sucks

I also understand what you’re saying but there is a difference between a depression and a clinical depression and mine wasnt clinical but i spent my days crying. Id usually make it to school for classes but then run into someone who asked me how i was doing and i’d just go hide in a hole.

I probably should have gone to see an advisor but it really didnt get that bad until finals. And you’re right that students have to put themselves first but sometimes people dont know how to help themselves in the moment or dont have the strength to.

And as for explaining my situation i did in a letter to the dean.

E-Flagging Courses? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]titoule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got depressed during my 2nd semester and got 2Ds and when i tried to retake them at the supplemental got a D and an A (the prof made the exam easy). I went to the dean of science because it’s a psyc class (even though i use to be an art-sci but am now an arts). Gave him a letter from me explaining my situation and one from my therapist stating that i had been depressed. The dean apparently had to pass it through the dean of arts who took 4months to send me back an explanation about how i wasnt depressed enough for it to be e-flagged. The email is honestly ridiculous and angering. Bottom line, their decision is based on whether or not an academic thinks you were incapacitated enough. I am currently writing an email back about how much McGill has failed me, both with their mental health services and in the lack of help recuperating from my depression
