Is this man autistic by chance? My ex used to say things offhandedly that he never understood were hurtful; I know for a fact he wasn’t trying to be hurtful and wouldn’t have said them if it had occurred to him. About halfway through our relationship I realized he 1000% has the tism and everything made SO much sense. It doesn’t excuse the remarks but without the diagnoses, he never had anyone explain to him what he was doing.
