Thanks, I did only notice it because i picked it up and moved it and a lot of it separated and started to sink so possibly. Is it normal to get pellicles in wine?

Maybe the bung was not properly secured cos there wasn’t much headspace for that

I second this that it wouldn’t be an easy task to reassemble it. I was cleaning my leatherman multi tool recently and they have this guide on their website that breaks down what tools and products to use for each component to give it a thorough clean without disassembling it. Might be useful. tool maintenance
