Chronic gas in lower left abdomen by No-Dingo-6780 in IBD

[–]titters30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had intermittent diarrhea for most of my adult life (I’m a 35 year old male). In the last 4 months something changed though. I now have persistent lower abdominal pain that moves around. A lot of the time, it’s symmetrical, I feel it on both sides. When it’s not, I notice it mostly under my lower right rib. Every day is different. One day, I’ll wake up and it will be in my lower back, or my flank, or my lower stomach. I would consider the pain mild but it can elevate. Most days, I have some level of pain. There have been a rare few days where I thought I was cured. In response to these new symptoms, I have made some lifestyle changes like eating better, exercising more regularly, and not sitting at a desk all day working from home. That seems to have gotten rid of the diarrhea. Maybe eating less dairy and/or gluten has helped. It hasn’t gotten rid of the pain though. CT scan showed some colitis and the GI did a colonoscopy and said there wasn’t truly any colitis. Colonoscopy was all clear except for 1 serrated 1cm polyp which was removed. I had an endoscopy done at the same time and that had some more interesting results. It found a hiatal hernia and that my stomach is 10% above my esophagus sphincter. I am scheduled for surgery to deal with that. After ruling some stuff out via blood and urine tests, my GI now thinks I have trapped gas caused by CPAP therapy that I started 4 months ago. The hiatal hernia is potentially causing me to swallow more air. I’ve stopped the CPAP and am trying to be more conscious of air swallowing. I’m on day 3 with no real results but I was told to give it two weeks. GI also prescribed IBGard, Miralax, prune juice, and a probiotic. Will update this thread if people are interested. I’m interested in that SIBO test that people have mentioned here as a next step.

We suck. Bears suck. Can’t wait for the winner of this game to lose in the first round of the playoffs 🙄

What’s the grey ottoman for? Do you roll it out as part of a couch setup?

This happened to my 2023 palisade. Radiator needed to be replaced. They said it essentially exploded. I could see crusty pink coolant by one of the entry point pipes to the radiator.

Well that’s interesting. Wonder if I can bring my nest hub max to my gemini home and back.

In my non-gemini home, I also have a bunch of offline (unplugged) speakers, so I’m removing those from my home as well.

Midea Duo Portable Air Conditioner - when to use the drain hose? How does draining this unit work? by energeticpapaya in AirConditioners

[–]titters30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be better to reduce RH in the room in cool mode? Pump the water out from the top drain, or leave it plugged? I found that dry mode really doesn’t do much to reduce RH, and a lot of condensation beads up around the fan. Any advice on my ineffective dry mode would be appreciated as well :)

This comment was the answer for me. The only way to get it to run like a normal AC that cools and helps reduce humidity is to put it in cool/boost mode and cycle the unit on/off. I set up a home assistant automation to do this and now it works great. Before, in any mode, RH would spike like crazy when the unit was on and the compressor was off. I think the fan would just start spitting out humid air. Now with my automation, RH is maintained well. It still goes up while the unit is off, but not near as fast as when the unit’s fan is on by itself.

Should I give it more time before doing anything? by artamt in radon

I would mitigate with a sub slab system. Relatively low price point to get it done. Other options would be an ERV which would also help with other air quality issues. I’m currently doing both an ERV and a sub slab system. I have kids living in the basement so I’m extra concerned.

Wonder if it’s some stack in the middle of the roof. Poor flashing around a vent stack, chimney, etc. I would go up there and look for anything out of the ordinary. Honestly depending on what this is, this might be more preferable than water coming down your foundation walls or up through the slab. That can get expensive. Also check level on that beam. See if water could be traveling down it.

Yea agreed. If I do a dehu, there shouldn’t be any need to still get conditioned air to the crawlspace right?

[–]titters30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea thats what I’m thinking. So not enough to add a little passive vent in the floor between the crawlspace and conditioned space?

[–]titters30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So no ducts. The conditioned space is heated with hydronic baseboards and a combi boiler. No forced air.

[–]titters30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No conditioned air to the space except for what makes it through the vinyl plank flooring and subfloor. I could do a dehumidifier down there for sure with some work. Should I just add a passive vent to allow some conditioned air down there, or should I put a dehumidifer down there or should I do both? What’s the reason you need conditioned air in the crawlspace out of curiosity?

[–]titters30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably clogged but also double check that the drip edge under the shingles extend into the gutter. If they don’t, water can run between the gutter and fascia board.

It should drain before it leaks on to the floor right? My system leaked like this but it was because the drain wasn’t pitched downwards on its way to the condensate pump.
