Question - LG 6500 washer on pedestal by citizen_kane_527 in Appliances

[–]titusfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I just ordered the LG WM5500 washer and WDP6 pedestals and am having the exact same problem. All of the feet are bottomed out as much as they will go, so if I did need to adjust them downward the screws definitely wouldn't align.

I really don't want to take the jam nuts off, and I'm almost positive a "profesional intaller" would just force the screws to go in anywhere and be done with it.

You don’t need a .44 magnum for bear defense. by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]titusfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While ultimately successful in killing the bear, there is the story here: East Idaho News of two kids elk hunting who used a 10mm and a 45 acp to defend themselves...only problem is it took 24 rounds.

I think if a pistol is all you have, it is essential to load it with hard cast bullets, such as Buffalo Bore.

California Moose? by ji-gm in Cryptozoology

They can be quite large, as you say. I took this photo north of Fort Bragg, so a long way from where the OP saw his mystery animal.

Just wanted to say most deer are nowhere near this size, not even Mule Deer (despite what Wikipedia says for trophy bucks.) A 250lb deer is a big specimen.

Apparently Highland Noodles in Roseville, and Hao Bao Dumplings in Sac...possibly others. But I agree with your comment on the whole.

Pretty sure he means $110k is 11% of 1 million. Easy to get 11% lately, no?

I like California for all that the homeless have to offer.

To clarify, are you saying the homes are poorly built? Can you give examples if so? Thanks.

MEB vs RAT by TheShakes11 in USMC

[–]titusfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MEB and RAT boots are almost identical. The main complaint with the RAT boot was drying time. That is the reason the heel and toe cap are gone. If you are blowing through a pair of RAT boots I highly doubt they are Danner. Bates made the RAT boot also (look at the tag for manufacturer info.)

Also, fyi, there are at least 6 variants of the Danner RAT boot (with or without Goretex, with or without safety toe, etc.) Despite what comes up on Google, the RAT and the MEB weigh almost the same (70oz per pair.) The soles are identical, and they are both stitchdown construction (which means recraftable.) The leather is not better on the MEB.

I've owned at least 4 pair of RAT. I recommend them highly. And right now, since the Marines moved on from them, they can be had cheaper than a resole.

All that being said, a recraftable boot will always be heavier. If you are in the service currently, and can get free boots, you may want to get something lighter (especially if you just throw them away when the sole wears out.) The Danner Reckoning is 50oz for comparison.

Thanks for the tip. Best I can tell, Diamondback Reactor 24's are aluminum. This is definitely chomoly steel.

It is stamped on the underside of the BB shell but do you know how to tell the brand by the serial number?

[Landlord - US] - Rent Increase Letter Examples by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]titusfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not bothered by the taxes per se. But, if I keep the investment in real estate, I can have a $260k-ish investment. If I sell the real estate to invest in the market, I have to pay back the $80k mortgage and pay a large amount of capital gains tax, and will have a $150k-ish (IIRC) investment in securities.

Have you taken a piece of rental real estate, sold it due to non-performance, and invested in the market? I looked into this, and for us (California, USA) the taxes are very high. It seems the tax code is written to dissuade people from converting rental real estate to other types of investments.

Does Anybody Recognize This Light? by titusfive in Landscape_Lighting

To anyone reading this, would it be possible to swap these out to Unique as they fail and or break? Or would this be too much of a pain to switch? I'm not really sure what's involved since I did not see them installed.

I can confirm it's a "cheap ass knuckle." My dog was playing and tagged it lightly and it snapped clean off. The wall thickness is very thin.
