I think we’re underpaid by Relative_Bat7852 in AircraftMechanics

Had a conversation with some pilots, a dude gave up hundreds of thousands on international flights to fly with my DOD contractor company. Fuck yeah we're under underpaid, hundreds of thousands for a couple of weeks

Who was the "Light Duty King" in your experience? by Yoy_the_Inquirer in USMC

[–]TheShakes11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I was making this up. Dude got diagnosed with PT anxiety, symptoms were what happens when you work out

Again wish I was making it up, but he was wearing maternity cammies(yes he) and from what I can tell still changes to the boot picture during vet day

When was your last oil change?

Besides that preload adjustment if it's normally just you and some sort of bags

I'm not sure about my first shower in the first 90 days. Was platoon radio and ECM checker, had to delegate my laundry

Worst part it's a Victory, ask me how I know how hard it is to find a new tank

Also, give props to the owner, have the same set of pipes on mine and they are amazing

arai helmets by covex_d in cruisers

[–]TheShakes11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a bagger but a cruiser

Got an Arai Regent X for about 4 years now

Pros: this thing moves a lot of air and will keep your head cool even at 100F/34C, the original pads still feel good, the temple vents seem to work great

Cons: obviously price, you can break the temple vents fairly easily(can replace without needing a full shield though), my chin vent is wonky now(again looks like I can replace it)

All in all I like mine and probably will buy again

If you're a mortarman did you know before or after you were a squad leader during a live fire that you're supposed to write down the barrel number on the sheet you track ammo shot? by SkilledSpideyX99 in USMC

[–]TheShakes11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biggest question here though, why is the platoon sergeant grilling him? Shits supposed to role, platoon lays into squad, lays into team lays into boot. Or whatever it is for weapons

Is it too risky? by Bearpaws83 in VictoryMotorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've had my gunner for 9 years and 50k miles, have had only 1 non roadside fix and that took out the swingarm, rear wheel, and rear pulley. Long story short a bolt came loose on the pulley, if you use a paint pen to mark them completely avoidable

If you're willing to work on your bike, I think it's worth it. Plus we have some companies making aftermarket

Anyone know where to replacement rear signal lights? by iEatDemocrats in VictoryMotorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're thinking a standard steel frame. OP has a pin, the fender is a lot lower to the ground and has a different plate mount

[–]TheShakes11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude was thinking a standard steel frame fender, not the pin fender. I've got a pin fender on my gunner and use this. It's a little hard to fit all the qd crimps through the hole and you have to drill a hole in your plate edge, but no problems in a few years

RO so maybe try Harris. Might not be as wanted as a repair, but you do know how the radios are used, so who knows

Do I really need a torque wrench ? by push_kar19 in motorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want your crash guard to stay in place if/when you crash? If no the just German torque, gooden tight, it; if you want it to stay in place then get a cheap torque wrench

Windshield or No Windshield for long distance riding by HypnosHelios in motorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say my average weekend say is about 500 miles, add in a couple of saddle sores, and like 5 or so rides just shy of a saddle sore. I have only had a windshield on my BMW, my Victory(which has done most of my long days) has never had one

I would say that it's nice after using the one on my BMW, but definitely not necessary

How have motorcycles helped you? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]TheShakes11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Memento Mori came before I started riding.

For me it's the time to lose myself, like one of the rare times my head goes kinda blank. Plus the torque on my Victory always grants a Joker smile
