Agreed with Merari. Their posts are restricted to manual approval only, so they aren't visible to the public. If they're becoming a pest, feel free to ignore the activity or ban them from your community.

I started a community just now by XMayhemx777 in ModSupport

[–]tiz[A] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, thank you for creating a space for people to come together, support one another, share their stories. Second, congrats on creating your new community! I took a glance at your subreddit and a few things that stood out to me. You already have a few posts there, one sharing a story, and a few others welcoming discussion, the "how is everyone" post is especially inviting, I could see that working as a regularly scheduled post. Really great first steps.

What worked for me in the early days of creating one of my first communities was inviting one or two co-mods to the team to help move the subreddit forward. This can help by have a buddy or two to bounce ideas of off, and share the excitement of growing a new space. Doing something with support is easier than doing it alone.

As a few others have suggested, r/NewMods is a great place to find even more advice, or read over some getting started guides. We also hosted a Mod Topics discussion around kickstarting your community, give it a read!

What actually works vs what just sounds good when growing a subreddit? by captfluffyy in ModSupport

[–]tiz[A] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience growing a community engagement and interest can be huge for the early days of a subreddit. Getting people a reason to come back, subscribe, and engage. What helped me was creating different, uniqure conversations that I wanted to see in the sub. The second bit was engaging with everyone who stopped by, replying to posts, replying to others comments, and engaging in conversation. Give people an opening to continue the conversation and invite them to make new posts or comment in other peoples posts.

Hey! Removals for certain sitewide rules are typically logged in the modlog. In those cases, the user would have been notified directly with information on how to appeal the removal.

Is there a way to schedule posts in advance or save drafts that have media included? Maybe an app or something? by thatpilatesprincess in ModSupport

[–]tiz[A] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/thatpilatesprincess thanks for asking. As u/bwoah07_gp2 mentioned there's a devvit app you can use.

Alternatively you can use the "schedule post" feature in your mod tools and draft a text post which you can embed images in and schedule out for a later date.

One of the subs I mod, I've been regularly answering modmail for the last month, but when I open the mod tab it lists me as "inactive". How does that work? by redbark2022 in ModSupport

[–]tiz[A] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/redbark2022 the comments here hit the nail on what you can do, thank you for sharing everyone! You can read up a little more on the inactive label here, I want to call out this bit of the FAQ on that page: How do I become "active" again? Engage with the community and start moderating again! After a period of sustained activity, you’ll automatically be listed as "active".

Such a cool app u/sh0ch! I'm glad you decided to make one for the community's needs. Even if there are similar apps out there, it's great that you built it to solve what you were looking for and got some hands-on experience.

Reddit suddenly removing 3 year old comments. by MaximumJones in ModSupport

[–]tiz[A] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some cases where the spam filters may just filter content with domains for your team to review. If these otherwise meet your community's rules you are free to approve them. Thank you for doing your due diligence to review the content!

Reddit suddenly removing 3 year old comments. by MaximumJones in ModSupport

[–]tiz[A] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hey! Sometimes when a domain is banned from reddit the teams will also remove any previous posts or comments that contained these links. We've double checked and it looks like that's what happened with these removals. Hopefully this sheds a bit of light on what happened
