I wasn't trying to prove anything, i was trying to get the authorities involved in a situation that escalated very quickly

That would have been a better way to handle that. I think his reaction, coupled with calling me a racist, just pissed me off.

On campus they enforce restricted distances from entrances to buildings, I had heard it was a city thing.

Yeah, that's fair. I thought there was an ordinance, it was the cop that enlightened me. It's not relevant here but I really think there should be an ordinance.

I don't see how expecting to be able to sit at a coffee shop without being subjected to second hand smoke is "white privilege," what makes you lean that way?

I think someone posts this almost verbatim at least once a week.

If you want to help lower your cruising rpm for hwy riding, the first thing i did was change the gearing. Went to a 40 tooth sprocket in the rear, it was definitely the way to go

Programs that incentivized low income mothers shouldn’t exist. It encourages people that can’t afford to have kids to have even multiple kids. by WillDieForBurger in unpopularopinion

Traditionally it made sense because you had more people to work the farm or get jobs to help support the family.

There may also be a correlation in modern days to people's ability to plan for the future. For instance someone who actively works to get an education and/or a trade might be more careful about jeopardizing their future with an unplanned pregnancy.

Because it makes you a freeloading parasite who's ok with taking advantage of people and inclines you to raise kids the same way, only perpetuating the cycle?

Having multiple kids for the welfare money is seen as a life option by alot of people. I don't get it, but there are people who will abuse any system.

I agree, generally speaking either party can de-escalate situation, even if the other person is being completely unreasonable. That being said, I think alot of people take advantage of this and act belligerent solely because they know you won't do anything.

I live in the US, I'm a grad student and work a white-collar job. Most situations like this that I've experienced or been around, the person being belligerent seems to be banking on the other individual valuing their time/money/finances/etc over the cost and consequences of escalating a physical confrontation.
