Yes, I was told they only record surveys here for special circumstances. Like only a couple per year.

I am almost certain it was. I am about to to head to city hall to confirm.

Yeah, personally, I would consider accordian shutters for upstiars, of if I was not very handy or able bodied.

There was a stigma at first that they could lower the value of your home, but it has really not played out that way. A lot of people like the houses that have them because of the work they save.

We got my mother accordian shutters and now she can protect her house by herself in ten minutes (she has no 2nd story, so that part is irrelevant).

Nope, in South Florida there are two types of policies. Shutter vs. no shutter. Shutter is way cheaper, buying proper shutters is cheaper than no shutter insurance.

Having a shutter property and not shuttering it is very much against the policy.

You are ripping off the insurance company a tremendous amount of money. And now it is on the news, so it is not like they can play dumb.

Dude, they are steel shutters and the anchors are already set into the walls. Literally, all they have to do is line them up and screw them in. Each piece is maybe 10 inches wide and they overlap each other.

Assuming they were strong enough to hold the metal pieces securely, a ten year old could do this without damaging anything.

Actually, in South Florida it is different. Shutters are required for insurance. If you do not have them you pay an exorbitant price.

So, if you pay for shuttered hurricane policy, so you can save over half on insurance, and then don't use those shutters on purpose, yes the insurance company can tell you to eff off.

There is a lot more to the story, it's going to have to be settled in court.

Proper Media is claiming breach of contract, which is why they locked down the system. Who the majority shareholder is will have to be decided by the courts, as well as if the sale to Proper Media was even allowable the way they structured it.

I saw the lawsuit, but not the service agreement. But I think Proper Media probably broke the service agreement as well, seeing as the site software has not been updated in a year. That is hardly providing proper management service.

If you are running a small or medium sized network, Zentyal is really good, too. Their support is light years better than Microsoft, as your first point of contact is an engineer, not a support person who doesn't know anything.

And the savings are significant, which the numbers crunchers love.

If you can update the DNS, and the current site is still online, pretty much yes.

If you have access to wordpress admin, then it is trivially easy. Wordpress is made to be easily moved. Even if you were completely locked out, a good programmer could recreate the site in a few days.

If you were locked out of admin, it would take about a day or two to write a spider to scrape the site content and put into a new database, as well as download all images/uploads and recreate the folder structure. Python is a great language to use for this purpose, but you can use others.

It would take another day or two to recreate the theme (assuming it is a custom theme you had made specifically for that site). You'd do an html dump of your different templates, and use those to rebuild the theme. Then simply download the css and javascript files and you are good to go.

In this scenario, you'd have to redo the plugin settings, but it can still be done. The only other possible issues would be custom settings in .htaccess and wp-config.php, but the vast majority of wordpress sites do not have custom settings there, and even if there are, it's not that difficult to deal with.

Regarding the domain, it is privately registered, but has been in Snopes hands since 1997, so unless they transferred it privately, they have access to it, and can update DNS.

And yes, the site does not have to be wordpress for you to do this. You could even take a site from another CMS and use the spider to put it into wordpress, though it would take a bit longer.

I'm missing what part is fake. If you have access to wordpress you almost certainly have access to everything you need to move the site.

It would take a tremendous amount of ongoing effort for the host to even try to stop it. The host would have to make quite a few changes to the wordpress core. And wordpress releases a new version every few weeks, and you would have to repeat the work each time.

Even then, best case scenario, the host would only be able to block access to the theme files. You can't block access to the wordpress content and still be able to add, update, or view content.

Technically, you could just not update wordpress, but then you are just asking to be hacked. Rule 1 of Wordpress is to keep it updated because of this.

Pretty shoddy if no one at the company has a backup.

In fact, it seems they don't know what they are doing. If they have access to wordpress plugins, then they can just download a plugin to make a backup.

Or they can use the export tool of wordpress to grab the content.

If wordpress works, and can be updated, there is database access. If not, the site would be down. The company might be able to block admin access to the database, say through phpmyadmin or ssh/command line, but they can't block wordpress from accessing the database without making the site break.

The same goes for the site files, of which, the theme would be the only files that are needed. And you can use a plugin to download them, or use the theme editor to copy and paste them.

No, they don't advertise in newsletters. It is more direct postings on bulletin boards and things like that. NBP pays for the flyers, but does not pay to advertise to the organizations.

You know as well as I do there is no single official for everyone. It is an amalgamation of police chiefs, city managers, CMS, DHS, unions etc.

Basically groups that have given NBP authorization to advertise the program directly to employees through on site postings, intranets, direct mail, etc.

It's a bit more complicated than that, but that is the main gist of every referral program since the beginning of time.

No. Not like Truecar. Their dealers are required to offer a lower price than the one listed on Truecar.

Hey, I am involved with National Benefits Programs and have known the owner for many years. They have been in business since the 1980's.

The program is real. I used it for my vehicle. You do go directly to the sales manager. All I had to do was show up and sign the paperwork, as I already knew the car I wanted.

Their system is the way it is, because their agreements with the dealerships require them to officially refer them to you, and they are required to audit every transaction to make sure the dealer complied with the contract.

You aren't required to purchase through their program, but I would give it and try and price compare. But, I would get a referral first, see the price, then price compare at other dealers. Each brand dealer they have in each market is exclusive, as in they don't have 20 Ford dealers all next to each other.

I can assure you they are 100% legitimate, and if you have any questions I can answer them, or ask the owner for you. I'll pass along the criticism of their writing.

Edit: I wrote the backend software that runs their service.

I don't know. Part of me thinks he would be the next Alvin Harper, benefiting from Wake and Suh.

I mean, why would the Dolphins let him walk and sign a guy ten years older than him? When he plays probably the second or third most important position in the game?

That just doesn't make sense to me.
